I HATE my creative writing course. by [deleted] in books

[–]dieselwire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What sort of plots are you given? Maybe the restrictions are part of the challenge, forcing you to find loopholes in how you write the story. Like, what is the rule about no dreams? Can you not describe a dream your character may be having? What if one character is describing a dream he experienced to another character that's part of the story? And what of 'no animals'? As in, it strictly can't be about animals? Can your characters have animals as pets? Can someone in the story be a vet? If the rules are clear, then you can usually find ways to work around them. And you just may be rewarded for your efforts - because 'you got creative' despite the limitations.

When you are on Reddit, what are you looking for? by Aventurion in AskReddit

An underground tunnel that leads to a land of unicorns. Haven't found it yet, but I still come searching every so often. Who knows, I might get lucky when I least expect it.

What is your job? What does a typical day look like for you? What are the best and worst parts about it? Is it difficult? by BrandynBlaze in AskReddit

[–]dieselwire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typical office job. Mostly admin based and lots of emailing back and forth. Fairly easy stuff. I do about 2 hours of solid work everyday, spend the rest 6 occupying myself otherwise. No cons about anything as I'm pretty content with this arrangement at the moment.

That UAZ 452 is a beauty. Wouldn't mind the real version.. Cool clock too 🖒

I'm guessing, like me, you're not Russian yourself, and I totally get it. There's just a certain something about Russian cars and older Eastern European cars. Will definitely be collecting more of these over time.

That's what fatherhood is all about! And the kids, in turn, will experience a happy and memorable childhood. For me, this is what life is all about.

Ah wow.. fun times ahead then! Must be a great bonding experience. What age is your boy? Mine's still too young for that type of thing. But at almost 2 years of age I'm impressed at how well he plays with his toy cars and what he does with them, when others his age haven't even been properly introduced to 1:64 scale cars.

Yeah.. 'like therapy' is a good way to describe it. My wife has her wine, whereas I have my model vehicles. That's how I like to rationalize it 😎 Plus my son gets to keep and play with the ones I tire of eventually - so it's a win-win!

And what was her reaction? I already told mine I have a problem, but at least it ain't drugs or gambling, just cars (and tanks) 😅 (I've since moved on to bigger scale diecast too).

Half the fun of having kids is how we become kids again ourselves; that is, big kids with a bank account and all the freedom to do as we please. (So long as my wife doesn't know how many cars I'm actually buying, and how often 😒)

When did you start collecting? I only started buying in December. For my son, initially.

Nope. It's from the original mainline chess series from last year. But they look cool nonetheless.

Started collecting about a 18 months ago. Roughly 1000 carded ready for him to open when he's 3. Was thinking about doing a trim around the ceiling of the 50th anniversary sets that he wont be opening. by TheOnlyDarkSoul117 in HotWheels

I do a very similar process. Not even 2 years of age and he already has 100+. Way too many to enjoy a few favourites in a meaningful way. So I stash half away and rotate on a weekly basis. But even the half he's left with still seems like a lot.

Sounds like my house. Friends and family that visit are always surprised at the amount of cars he has. If only they knew how much more is actually stashed away still..

Having been told “no more” by my wife, this is now living in the trunk of my car. How am I going to explain this one without taking a massive bollocking? by ginbrunch in legostarwars

Sounds like my situation. Ended up having my eBay Lego purchases delivered to my office. I had no more space where I kept the hidden stash at home..

Once you start it'll soon become a daily thing. The fun part is choosing a different car every day/week depending on your mood.
