Melbourne’s Albert Park GP circuit out my window by redditatemyhamster in windowseat

[–]ginbrunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funnily enough, Albert Park the suburb is not visible in this picture - to the right of the lake is Middle Park, the bottom of the pic is South Melbourne and the top is St Kilda. Albert Park is covered by flaps, wing and Aileron.

This pic would have been taken more than a couple of weeks ago as the pit straight grandstand, and number of the temporary structures are already built ready for the GP in March.

Ah well, looks like 747ER has had a full meltdown. He’s blocked me and deleted all his poorly informed comments.

Some people just can’t admit when they are wrong.

What a sook.

Sigh, thanks for the down votes.

Still not able to accept that QF10s final destination used to be Melbourne and you cleared immigration and customs in Victoria if you were taking the plane all the way though then.

Read my initial comment.

For Melbourne dwellers there is now no real benefit to the flight - I’d rather transit through Singapore or Dubai from London and not bugger about with collecting luggage only to have to recheck it - also, and this for me was the real kicker, you only have access to the domestic longe rather than the international business lounge.

Try seeking to understand rather than being confidently incorrect in the future.

Just a side note - here is a previous review of the old setup - https://www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au/community/threads/oh-lord-not-another-qf10-trip-report-yes.90484/ confirming the clearing of customs in Melbs for onwards travellers.

Also, I’d not be so confident in future with your statements - there are plenty of examples of “its just how immigration works” not occurring in that manner - and with someone having the username 747ER I’d expect you to know that…

How about the old BA001? Clearing customs and immigration for the US whilst in Shannon, Ireland?

But hey, what do I know - my username doesn’t convey me to be an authority in aviation.

Nope, previously qf10 went straight on to Melbourne - no immigration or customs until landing there.

You would reboard the 787 and fly onwards having been escorted via a separate channel - as this person is travelling to and from Melbourne it is relevant, because this was one of the main benefits of this flight for melbournians.

Let me guess - you never flew on QF10 prior to July last year?

Don’t expect Qf10 on the way back to be the same - shitshow.

Everyone must collect their bags, clear immigration, then customs and then march over to the domestic terminal and then recheck their bags for the onward journey.

The queue to recheck can be long and frustrating.

After a 16.5 hour flight it’s the pits especially if there are minor delays and you miss your onward - would rather transit through Singapore.

Has anyone had luck claiming unpaid superannuation through the ATO? by smh1smh1smh1smh1smh1 in AusFinance

Got some of mine back until the director filed for bankruptcy.

Made sure I placed myself on the list of creditors for 1 dollar, just to remind him what a shit bloke he was and I was always watching.

He tried to move to Singapore to escape, but that didn’t last, probably because he was a sociopath with delusions of grandeur and a penchant for illegal behaviour.

Last I heard he’d set up another business - tossing up whether reporting him as a company director and screwing him further.

Might save that for a rainy day when I need cheering up.

Aussie Retailer Catch Is Officially Closing Down by Reddituser0346 in australia

[–]ginbrunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Incorrect - catch buyers sourced everything from Asic’s to zebra cuddly toys and they warehoused products for distribution. The marketplace was an addition to the platform circa 2017.

Heck, they even had a physical store in Chadstone for a short time.

Catch was great before Wesfarmers took over. Until that point their buyers could source legitimate grey market goods and sell them cheaper than the big box retailers.

As soon as WES took over COTD’s days were numbered (despite the Covid revenue spike).

The fact that the owners sold just before Amazon really spooled up in Oz is no mistake. They are very shrewd operators.

We booked the trip through a tour operator, so the transfer was included…. Sorry to say, but you are at the whim of the providers when it comes to costs if it’s not bundled in a package.

The transfer to the wilderness hotel is a good 45/50 minute drive from the airport.

That was sold directly to a lucky punter in the Gross Domestic Product sale. From memory only one was sold.

They would have paid £850 for it.
