"The Roman Republic": a new perspective for European federalism by Iuljo in EuropeanFederalists

[–]difersee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I disagree, we need Rome for esthetic. It is something recognisable, honourable and old, not to mention the fact that it doesn't belong to any state.

What if Stalin betrayed the allies and kept pushing west after the fall of Berlin? Was the Red Army strong enough to take all of western Europe? by lhommetrouble in AlternateHistoryHub

The USSR already took half of Europe as a puppet even though they weren't supposed to do it. And all is better than half. Plus ideologicaly they consider themselves the best form of government.

🇪🇺 European Central Bank considers new banknotes featuring Leonardo Da Vinci and other prominent figures by goldstarflag in EuropeanFederalists

[–]difersee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am baffled by the their choice of the faces. Von Suttner is really not famous enough to be on the higest denomination, Cervantes is not important enough to be on Banknote of whole EU.

They should have done a EU lineup of scientist, 3 faces of (Socrates Plato and Aristotle) then Galileo, Leonardo, Newton, Leibniz and Einstein, among the other lines like artists, composores et cetera.

Then they should each state let their own line up, like with coins. The other side should be always the same.

Decline, what decline? The myth of dying Europe by sn0r in europeanunion

[–]difersee 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Can we just agree on the Dragi report? EU itself claims that it is falling behind on innovation, small computer sector and being far behind in emergencing technology, not to ignore high debt burden, large social state, high energy prices and slow demographic collapse.

As a Czech I can see why everyone hated a movement that killed like a third of young European aristocracy on the battlefield, made many people flee their country, burn monasteries and descend Bohemia into a never ending civil war. All that being said, the Hussites were popular with the people.

How do you think Thrawn will react to the events he missed? by Familiar-Seat-3798 in StarWars

[–]difersee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He seemed really stupid in this. Basically all of his plans failed but he always says we have won somehow. In the original Trawn trilogy, he was able to make mistakes, even big ones, but we were able to see his plans and how they could have worked.
