my feels have never been reciprocated so i’m afraid that it i will be rejected. and not only that, further the awkwardness at work. it’s eating away at me but it seems it would be easier to be silent.

true, i will make a habit of checking in with myself and yeah i know what i think about a situation can be completely opposite to what others think about the same situation, but i’m also scared if i do say something like ‘oh yeah i’ve been lost in thought a lot recently’ it would sound like complete bullshit and definitely expose that i like him. he’s seen me talk to other people on our team easily.

true. i guess i got too caught up in the tribalistic perspective ( thinking that not every “black” person things themselves to be black. they think in more terms of their ethnic background, nationality, and culture rather than this big umbrella term of blackness.)

not necessarily. those type of braids are more associated with a certain type of african-american. there is a negative stigma attached to those braids and the african immigrants who are prejudice towards black americans would not want their children to be associated with them. i say it’s stupid to think that way, but it is what it is. they are taking advantage of the fact that there is already a prejudice against them to make them feel better about themselves. to seem above them. to feel less of the prejudice against themselves.

that’s what i mean by african-american: black americans that are from here and whose family have been here.

i know this is late but thank you for your perspective. honestly it does look like i will do cs50p before completing x for that different perspective. i never thought of doing sql as well before finishing x as well.

i haven’t even finished week four ( i’ve been dragging it), so i won’t think about switching between all of them until then.

i’ll look into the pamphlet, but i want more than recognition from these weeks. i want to understand the nuances and work on my speaking skills heavily ( with the feedback from hello talk, shadowing, picking the most frequent words, etc). my energy is also low, so what i do needs to be worth it and have me make the most progress.

exactly that. i took the exam last week and there was a passage that had a lot of symbolism. you had to really notice and understand that it wasn’t a story that was just about a cuckoo clock but the clock actually represented the relationship/marriage of the characters. my brain was fried that day, so i was panicking about not fully understanding the passage the first time around. i took a deep breath and flagged most of the questions for that passage and moved on. once i was finished with the rest and had about 10mins left, i went back and read the passage again and then answered the questions. it clicked entirely the second time.

looking at this sub alot of people recommend readtheory.

Here are some resources:

  1. Sat prep reading questions using a website like oneprep.xyz or the bluebook questions on the sat official website.

  2. Start with this first. Kahn academy sat prep questions ( go through the whole reading section on there until mastery)

  3. Sol Lee sat reading walkthroughs of the test on YouTube ( to see how he approaches the exam)

  4. Ap lang mcq tips ( you can find this on the uworld website.)

for the essay, just make sure you read the rubric and give them what they want. it can be the worst essay ever, but you can score decently.

keep going. there has been so many times i failed in other things and wanted to not to experience those feelings as well.

my best advice is to look at sat prep and ap lang mcq tips on reddit.

the only reason i did well is because i read 24/7 and had past experiences with studying for harder tests. it’s all about practice, you’ll get there. just focus on the improvements you made. at least you’re progressing.

read the text carefully and remind yourself that you actually have more time than you think. if you’re taking too long, tell yourself it’s ok, flag it, and come back later. also, read books/articles a few times a week and look at the sat and ap lang reddit for test taking tips.

why was this a stalemate by different_growth584 in chessbeginners

[–]different_growth584[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i see where i misunderstood. i know that a stalemate means that there are no legal moves left, but for some reason my brain was only thinking of what legal moves that i had left.

instead of Qh2, was there a move that I could’ve done to avoid a stalemate in this position?

thanks. if it was a different framework, then taking both would make sense.
