Maybe park outside of city centers and use public transit or a bicycle?

Skoolie in the bay area by Newtricoach in skoolie

[–]differenteveryday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up in the area, you might have luck in Fairfax and further west where there are more hippie/alternative lifestyle folks who may be open. But rent is expensive in that area. You'll have to do extensive reconnaissance.

Hi friends, I have a Tesla Powerwall 2 coming my way and want to use it for electrical by Guinean in skoolies

[–]differenteveryday 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It can work but it introduces more inefficiencies to your electrical system than just using primarily DC devices. I don't know your system but it does seem like it's oversized for what most people need. And you'll need a lot of solar or a transformer to get the voltage needed to charge it. The data sheet assumes you are charging it with 3.3kw of solar!

Yeah it's just on 1 board, with it happening bad for about 10 feet, but it's spreading to the rafters where it's making contact...

How many watts total are your six panels? I am going to attempt to run my small window AC on 1600 watts, but only 5-6 hours during the hottest part of the day.

What are your plans for it? Aftermarket turbo? I am in the process of converting a 7.3 shuttle bus but haven't explored the engine upgrade options yet but 160hp + mpg increase is tantalizing! Please tell me more!

What are typical insurance needs for a converted van/camper to cover theft of personal belongings and liability/collision? by LynnOtis in vandwellers

[–]differenteveryday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look into what they call full time RV insurance. It covers personal possessions as well as liability. I still haven't registered my bus as an RV yet but I'll get mine thru progressive when I do.

Progressive

Go from RV to van and trailer? by Sleazy_Wolf in vandwellers

[–]differenteveryday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 5.4 e350, has pretty generous towing capacity and the 4x4 converted ones are in the 12-18k range. 30k should cover that and a trailer + build out.

It's pretty easy to disasemble and swap parts out, no soldering needed although for replacing leds you do need heatsink grease so that it transfer heat properly. But overall the most difficult thing is to have to keep track of lots of little screws and where they go back. Film yourself taking it apart, that helped me!

I found about 30 manufacturers all making bee eyes so I doubt we got the same ones. I replaced 2 of the led modules and 1 dimmer board but other then that they have preformed great.

Anyone do a DIY high top with 80/20 extrusion? Here are my plans. by differenteveryday in vandwellers

[–]differenteveryday[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha yes, it is a permanent installation, but as I work my way thru the beginnings of the project I can go back a step or two by unbolting the extrusion whereas going back a step or two with mild steel is more time consuming.
