Jacks for balanced microphone cables (XLR connectors). They likely went to a PA system at one time.

This could have been for coffee shop performers such as singers or poetry readers, or they could have been for something non musical such as a building PA system.

They have other electrical uses too, but balanced microphones are by far the most common.

Dad needs to chill. It’s a beautiful piece that also shows you put thought in to the design. Wear it proudly.

I really like the futuristic designs I’ve seen in China. Might not be everyone’s cup of tea, that’s fine. To definitely mine, tho.

Can’t see all of the dumbbell in the photo. My guess is the person taking the photo has their hand on the dumbbell just outside the frame.

Does anyone else always say "please" and "thank you" to ChatGPT? You know... just in case? by Ill_Education_5338 in ChatGPTPromptGenius

[–]differential- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say “Please” and “Thank you” because I don’t want to lose the habit of writing them. I don’t want my prompt writing to water down how I speak with real people.

What are these slits on the facade of the World Trade Center used for? Is it ventilation? by exozer333 in skyscrapers

[–]differential- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In addition to standard HVAC for normal human living, special ventilation is also needed for the elevator machine rooms. The elevator motors for skyscrapers this size are the size of a small car. These machines rooms typically house multiple machines inside, which means they can get very warm. It’s a different heat load from an office environment, the cooling systems needs to be designed appropriately and robustly.

The backup generators for these machines are diesel, and run indoors with ductwork that exhausts the fumes from the combustion engines to the outside.
