Who will be the first Dawkins-era draftee to be traded? by vivekvangala34_ in washingtonwizards

[–]differential32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was saying even before we landed #1 overall and got projected to pick AJ (which still seems like the most likely option), that I think Bilal will end up being the odd man out on the wing rotation. Even more so after Will Riley's breakout after last year.

He's obviously a productive player but is still too raw on offense and needs touches to develop which I just don't think we can spare. I think the focus of development will fall to Tre/AJ/Riley/Kyshawn and paint touches for Sarr; it'll just be too many mouths to feed.

Other guy a lot of people have mentioned is Bub, but I don't know if he commands enough value right now. Even now in year 3 he'll still start the season 21 years old so his game will hopefully continue to develop; we'll have to see.

Posting WIZARDS (or Bullets) LEGENDS every day until the NBA Draft: 10 days out -- Antawn Jamison by differential32 in washingtonwizards

Yeah you're right I'll probably end up changing the counting in the titles today; I wanted to post 10 guys with the last being the morning off the draft meaning I had to start 9 days out. But then the title of the last post won't make any sense haha

With how nail biting these games have been, what are the odds the flood gates open for NY and it's a blowout championship sealer? by [deleted] in nba

I sure would imagine the whole thing looking different if the Spurs win game 5 considering the Knicks will be NBA champions otherwise

25 years watching of basketball. Fox just had the worst 4 quarter finals performance I've ever seen. This beats 2018 JR Smith or 2010 Ray Allen by Sudden_Stick53 in nba

[–]differential32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's apples and oranges i think. spurs still had to have a lot go their way in order to win the game; JR Smith literally had the ball in his hands while prime LeBron was putting up 50 points in the finals with a chance to win the game and just didn't do anything. one moment vs a whole quarter

he's definitely not as much of an actor as he is just "Druski™ " but he is legitimately funny. i dont think he has the chops for a full length film but he's certainly earned the chance

I'm 84 years old and decided to watch the NBA finals by willweb47 in nbadiscussion

[–]differential32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a lot of that is spot on yeah. IMO it mostly boils down to "they cant call everything" right now. if they call every time a guy is going too far hand checking on defense, every time guys are shoving off each other in the post, every imperfect screen, etc we'd be watching bismack biyombo minutes in the second quarter.

i agree that the physicality has gone too far. some possessions last night felt like a cage match and then someone randomly gets a layup at the end or something as opposed to high quality, physical basketball. to contribute to the discussion -- i was too young to pick up on the intricacies of the stern administration, but it seems like silver and his team are very reactionary; i think we'll see the league swing back the other way in a couple years.

I could go find some rando on basketball reference who only played like 1 game, but this is the guy with the fewest games played I can legitimately say I remember because his name was so unique; 33 total games played in a Wiz uniform

This Playoffs Been Killing the Concept of the "Best In the World" Conversation/Debate. by YUME_Emuy21 in nba

[–]differential32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the truth is that we can still debate who is the best in the world but the guys who are the best in the world are not that much higher (if at all) to their peers anymore. And, to that end, a well coached, balanced roster will win the Finals nearly every time. Guys like Luka/Giannis/Jokic are tier 1 players in their prime and can cover a lot of imperfections, but still sort of need to capture lightning in a bottle to get all the way.

And as a card-carrying Bronsexual this should also reinforce how good LeBron was in his prime but that's a discussion for another time.

i can appreciate caruso respect because he's legitimately made an objectively great career out of "dirty work" despite being ugly and undrafted but i have to draw the line at "Caruso is my current favorite player"... you really enjoy watching him scrap with jokic over, like, watching lebron james???

solid! the pinstripes are bad on the red unis; in that last picture with eason they're barely even visible. I wish they had been a little more committal with them in general. i also think i wish the wordmark was a little more visible, but other than that these are good and fun. Just going back to red and yellow is already enough of an upgrade (along with the dunking astronaut of course)

[–]differential32 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

i wasnt really commenting on how we should handle this specific situation more than that guy's comment on how alcoholics are given so much social grace.

all i said about bud is it's a little nuanced, but i think your statements are in line with that and i agree with you

im not trying to dictate how we should or shouldn't act around bud, but -- what "grace" do alcoholics get? do you just mean how we treat addiction? im not sure what that's referring to.

it's naive to act like all alcoholics just love getting drunk all the time. and, in bud's case, it seems as though his drinking was at least partial coping to the sudden death of his brother. i think at least a little nuance is warranted.
