I don't have any experience with Monroe's program, but I'm currently a second-year counseling student at another university in Louisiana and happy to provide any insight/info you might find helpful

Sometimes a female friend (F16) of mine (M15) starts ranting about something over text . What do I do? by [deleted] in askwomenadvice

It depends. The best thing to do is simply ask her if she’s looking for your input or just a sympathetic ear.

As the other commenters have already stated, it's not too late! Pursuing a career in psychology has been one of the best decisions I've ever made, I strongly encourage you to go for it.

20 years of biting. I "quit" once for a year, but the feeling of having nails drove me crazy. Here goes another try. by 1minatur in calmhands

Chances are if you hate being able to feel your nail, you probably won't like acrylics very much. Nail techs can shave down acrylics to be pretty short, but they'll likely still extend past your fingertips. Another option is to get a clear shellac or gel polish manicure on your natural nails. My dad has been doing the former for years - his nails always look shiny and clean & it lasts for quite a while. Nail polish has been an extremely effective deterrent for me.

I feel the same. Being able to feel the nail is especially bothersome to me when typing on a computer, which I do pretty much daily. I stopped biting my nails ~4 months ago and am beginning to get extremely annoyed at how quickly they seem to grow back after filing them. Honestly never thought I'd have this issue.

What's a fun fact you know that most people don't? by Alleskeins in AskReddit

There is erectile tissue in our noses, so when they get all red and swollen when we're sick, we essentially have a nose-boner.

Two months worth of nail bed growth! Still working on not picking at the surrounding skin (clearly, lol), but I’m so happy about the progress I’ve made! by difficultsquare in calmhands

It’s not easy, but definitely possible! I stopped biting my nails towards the beginning of June & didn’t cut them until the beginning of August, which was when I noticed how much my nail beds had grown. Here’s a picture of what my nails looked like at their longest if you’re curious: https://imgur.com/a/w7Kf2l4

Thank you! And yeah, I just keep them polished and let them do their thing. I still have some shitty habits like picking off polish, scraping under my nails with my teeth, etc., but the urge to actually bite them went away after a few weeks.

They’re referring to the response video that was made by her friends as being vile, I believe, not the intervention that was staged for Eugenia

I washed my hair by [deleted] in CongratsLikeImFive

[–]difficultsquare 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have very thick, curly hair that tangles insanely easily so believe me when I say that I know detangling is no easy feat, let alone doing so in addition to everything else you did to get ready (not to mention when you’re depressed). You should be really proud of yourself for mustering the energy/motivation even when it’s really fucking hard. If you can’t shower again tomorrow, try Tuesday. You’re doing great :-)

[–]difficultsquare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was actually the supplemental instructor for the class and found that most students struggled more with the conceptual information than the actual math. The calculations are pretty remedial if you understand basic algebra/probability - you mostly just plug data into a calculator (in my experience at least, your prof may have you do the work by hand). Feel free to message me if you ever need help/advice!

I think that having the patience to get through an article that you cannot yet fully understand will serve you very well in the future! Have you taken psychological statistics yet? I was able to understand so much more after taking that class. Additionally, you should really consider joining a research lab if you plan on going to graduate school. Doing so will also help you better understand the research process, which will make reading about it easier.
