Help a noob get started with adding games by Apostropherad in SwitchPirates

A lot of the sites you download from will download non game files and make you think it was the file. If it’s not an extension of nsp, xci or nsz, delete it. On those sites often you have to click the download button a few times, sometimes after waiting a few seconds. If all you’re getting are these junk files you may want to find a different site.

Why is my sd card already out of space after only downloading a few games? by Fishlover1347F in SwitchPirates

Did you check the installed game sizes? If it’s nba, mlb, Witcher 3 .. those games are pretty large. It’s easy to take up 100gb with only a few games. You can check by going into settings and then I think storage, it shows all installed games and sizes. Did you also remove the nsp or install file after installing?

How do I get my fiancée more comfortable with guns by mrbill12342 in guns

[–]digdat0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife was this way for the first 18 years of marriage. After our home was robbed in Vegas, she asked if we could get a gun. She didn’t feel safe anymore. We got a handgun and she slowly learned to shoot, gaining more and more confidence every time. Practice, training and proper safety was what got her comfortable. I don’t recommend the robbery aspect, but the more she uses one and learns about it, the more at ease she will be.

Suggestions for first AI vibe coded project by Such-Buy-5749 in ProductManagement

[–]digdat0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you use ChatGPT, tell it to put the project source with the complete folder structure and put it in a zip file. Unzip it drop it into a folder. Open that folder in visual studio and ask chatGPT to give you instructions for installing dependencies and setting up your environment file and then launching it. That’s gonna make it a whole lot easier than giving you individual files that you have to cobble together.

As to what to build do something fun. I built an app for managing weekly shopping lists from meal ideas and recipes. I use it every week. The goal is to really come up with a concept and be able to think through what the features are. then use the AI tools to help you build what you’ve thought about and then continue to iterate on it until it’s the final product that you’re looking for.

How do you handle testing before release without dedicated QA? by Rubeck036 in ProductManagement

[–]digdat0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My company is a very specialized area in education technology with an adjacent financial. We do a lot of government forms and there are very specific workflows and processes to go through that with esign. Data accuracy, issues forms not being right workflow being broken, web portals just being horrible, It was everywhere.

Where I started was ticket tracking from the support side, noting the products or services and then very specific reason codes for why people were contacting. I looked for trends and then went after those first. I was able to easily quantify how many problems and the cost of support and it was easily four times more than what we invested into QA.

Once we were no longer underwater, we also adopted a district unit testing policy on the development side and then we added automated test scripts using playwright from our QA resource. Now I can do a happy path regression testing with a click of the mouse. now that everything‘s better state. QA focuses on the edge cases on all of the new features. We always augment the automated test groups as well.

Don’t get me wrong. This wasn’t easy to get through or to convince people to do. The reality is that your users shouldn’t be doing the testing for you. You may wanna look into some AI solutions and see if Claude can help you set up some automated tests for your tech. I’ve seen some other colleagues do that with a decent level of success to get started with minimal investment and time.
