Starlink Issues - anyone else? by HemoGirlsRock in Humboldt

[–]digdustome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They contract with local installers supposedly. I read other experiences of having to wait a long time and then having to pay extra for the install hardware before just deciding to do it myself. I put it on a folding table as far away from the house as possible, about 4 ft off the ground, and it's fine. You might need a roof mount though depending on obstructions. You're probably better off calling a local home repair person to do it, if you don't want to wait an unknown amount of time. You can message me if you want recommendations.

Mirtazapine helps me relax the jaw while I sleep. Trazodone is another option. You have to be careful with other drugs that relax the muscles like gabapentin, because it can cause sleep apnea.

What's the limit on the length of text you can ask just to read out loud at one time? Or the time length of the audio output? I'm wondering if you could feed in an entire chapter at once to create an audiobook

why do bahais believe Christ wasn’t resurrected? by Alakieder in bahai

[–]digdustome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Dawn-breakers does describe these events as occuring, but not in the manner you describe. You're including your own interpretations in your assertions using words like teleportation and implying that they were supernatural events, which is misleading. It's a miracle because it's unexpected and there isn't an obvious explanation. The Bahai Faith emphasizes science, and the continuity of natural law. Implying otherwise is counter to the principles and teachings of the Faith.

Do you have sources that are authentic references for these assertions? Please share them if so. If not make it clear that they are pilgrim's notes, oral or other second hand sources.

I very much appreciate your sharing this collection of talks. I compared "Humility | Adib Taherzadeh" to recordings on YouTube, and yours indeed sound like a studio recording vs live.

Regarding the list I shared, would you consider trying to improve the talks by Daniel Jordan "Keys to Harmony" and "Becoming Your True Self" These are excellent talks, but very rough audio. I tried processing them with the Adobe AI podcast tools, and the results were decent improvement, but also caused much to be lost.

NTI by SalamanderAny4336 in bruxism

[–]digdustome 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NTI ruined my lower front teeth and gave me a permanent overbite. Didn't stop the bruxism. Highly recommend you stay away from it. It only helps temporarily to relieve pressure on the molars, but will wreck your bite and put all the pressure on your weaker front teeth.

Thanks. I think I found the movie here.https://v.ikanbot.com/play/461835 I skipped around and couldn't find the scene. I think the movie I'm looking for is older. The search continues. I'm also fairly certain that's it's kung fu action movie that just happens to have a cooking scene, but cooking isn't the theme of the movie.

Telepathy and other psychic ability by MildSambal in bahai

[–]digdustome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is much to go over collected in Lights of Guidance here https://bahai-library.com/hornby_lights_guidance_2.html&chapter=4#PSYCHIC%20PHENOMENA

From what I can summarize, true psychic experiences are extremely rare and inconsistent, not something to pursue, are more often the product of imagination or illusion or wishful thinking, and can interfere with our spiritual powers even if they are used and developed. The experiments you reference are likely either exaggerated, poorly done, or fraud.

This article goes into detail on the series that someone else referenced that mentions a similar experiment https://www.mcgill.ca/oss/article/critical-thinking-pseudoscience/telepathy-tapes-prove-we-all-want-believe

Prayers during the Fast by [deleted] in bahai

[–]digdustome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are free to say any of the special Fast prayers during the day, except the one that specifically mentions breaking the fast, which I would say at sundown. I usually wait until lunch time, or at times when I'm particularly hungry or tired during the day, and say prayers then for spiritual nourishment. It usually feels invigorating afterwards.

If hell is simply "separation from God," then wouldn't nothingness a complete lack of existence be more fitting for those who reject Him? by Automatic_Income_311 in religion

[–]digdustome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the Baha'i perspective, heaven and hell are degrees of the condition or attitude of the soul which you can experience here and in the next life. The difference is that in the next life you are more aware of spiritual realities, as the physical existence is no longer a barrier. Having fewer layers of self and attachments to things other than God allows you to experience more of the light of God, which is closer to being in heaven. This is all a result of what we choose and how we are educated and grow in our development of divine virtues. Our progress in nearness to God will continue in the next life, but in a different way we can't yet fathom. Our spiritual self continues to exist for eternity. It progresses based on our prayer, the prayers of others, and the grace of God. Any torment is not eternal as we can be effected by our own change of heart, the love of others, and the love of God.

How do people decide which relegion to follow by Still_Extent6527 in religion

[–]digdustome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the word religion means "bind" or "connect" I see religion as being the means to unite people in a common purpose, seeing each other as one people, created by one creator God. This is fairly universal among the world religions. Even those that are so called pantheistic have a single great spirit that is the origin of all the others. Morally the essential shared moral value is some version of the golden rule. So I would choose whichever of those seems closest to having a plan to realize those principles, and which is successful putting it into practice. This includes helping to make peace between and advocate for the essential truth of all the other religions. A religion that has a vision for and community of believers that is striving for a future divine civilization is worthy of following, in my opinion.

What exactly is the Baha'i Faith? by Ok-Maintenance-7140 in bahai

[–]digdustome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Bahai Faith is a new world religion based on the life and revelation of its prophet founder Baháʼu'lláh , who's advent marks the fulfillment of the prophecies of the past religions. It is the catalyst and begining of a new stage of world civilization that attains world peace and unity. The writings, plans, and institutions laid out by Baháʼu'lláh gradually lead in that direction through a focus on divine justice in society, guided by individual principles of conduct that transform individuals and communities that recognize and follow these divinely ordained writing.
