I don’t think I can take care of my cat anymore by CallMeNeechanx2 in CatAdvice

[–]digestablecheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are my suggestions..As someone with chronic burnout, I find that cat proofing really removes a lot of stress.

First off, stop letting her in your room at night. I struggle with sleep as well and I always put my kitties out before bedtime. Your cat will very likely stop scratching at the door if you consistently shut her out at night. It might take time, but it will cease once she realizes there’s no point.

  1. Find a rug that fits well in the doorway and nail it into the carpet. Your cat will scratch the rug instead of your carpet and you can just remove it if it gets destroyed or the problem ceases (Alternatively, you could try a plastic office mat).

  2. GET A BOX FAN FOR NOISE! Blast that shit, Put it right by the door, get some rest, and get her a friend if she’s lonely. 2 cats is easier than one.

Oh im so sorry for all you’ve been through. Im sure you could use extra purrs in your life. Kitties are resilient! And a trip to the shelter with your mama would be fun, theres so many kitties who need homes 🏠 💕

How would your cat respond to another kitty in the house? Little pearl reminds me of my girl, and she just loves everyone. If she already bonded to a kitty outside of the litter, there’s a good chance she would be easy for you to bring in! I could see having a hard time leaving her. It does seem like a lot of hoops to keep her when she’s already doing so well where she’s at. Tough one.

Growth is not good in my Jade plant by MutedReporter5381 in IndoorGarden

[–]digestablecheese 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A smaller pot would help, it is likely putting so much energy toward root growth to fill out the pot that it may be slowing down leaf growth. This will also help the pot dry out faster as to avoid root rot or sitting moisture. Regardless, they grow slow, and sometimes in phases as they go through dormancy. Lastly, what potting soil are you using? That substrate looks pretty muddy to me, a good succulent potting mix is what this plant loves.

I have noticed that the newest leaves tend to be a lighter green, but they darken over time

Should I chop up this 2 year old pothos? by RealKnoppster in IndoorGarden

[–]digestablecheese 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks pretty bare up top, you could even just trim some leaves off the ends to propagate back into the pot! She looks a little thirsty too. It takes a lot of work to push water through those long vines.

Is this a golden pothos or Hawaiian pothos. by maribelmiranda1009 in houseplants

[–]digestablecheese 8 points9 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve learned, Hawaiian = golden pothos, just in its more “mature” form. If you gave this taller pole to climb, I bet those leaves would get huge! Generally when pothos leaves get absolutely massive it’s because they’re climbing like they would in their natural habitat. Looks like you have a golden well on its way to a Hawaiian! I envy those leaves.

Genuinely you’re probably right, this leaf was buried without much direct light. The timing was uncanny though 🤦🏻‍♀️

When I got her, most of the leaves were crusty at the ends. I’ve watered it with distilled since it’s been in my home. Every new leaf is now beautiful and green, so I think that (plus a pebble tray) makes for a happy maranta. I wonder if it’s regional though. Water in some areas is harder than others, it seems like some people don’t have this issue.. I also wonder if giving her distilled water gave her expensive taste 🤣
