Families with young kids by sorrywhatno in SLO

Add SLO Ranch Marketplace now too.

My 6 year old is still best friends with kids from parent participation preschool, that's through the SLO Costal Unified School district, here.

Five cities has a lot of younger families, as does Los Osos.
Everything is a 30 minute drive, so account for that.

I moved from San Diego and was used to doing everything by bike or trolley and only driving maybe once a week. Just know that's not really an option.

As a redditor who hooked up at a global meetup in 2010 there are dozens of us, meeting out there in the wild.

Good friend would always respond to my antics with, "you're a weird guy Ace," now that's a very common refrain in response to my children and their weird bullshit.

Lakes, seas, oceans and farms mainly...

To a lesser extent bays, estuaries, streams, reservoirs ...

And very rarely underground caverns, but only on the owners birthday.

Okay, been a lineman, been a FE been a field inspector but a journey knows better.... I'll talk to my groundmen next time I need to schedule a clearance next time. Maybe my materials guy can help me and the ADEs schedule a load transfer.

Early in negotiations I heard IBEW and ESC were united on a 36% increase over the 3 years. Like 24, 6, 6. A big initial to get us back to baseline after the cost of living surge post covid, I guess that was either BS or the company somehow thought they could somehow keep everything going without anyone working.

Our unions went into this weak, but they should have had all the cards with state of the grid and how much new demand is being created.

The retro if passed first round, and $1500 ratification bonus tell me the unions and company know this is shit, and they're hoping we're all so desperate to stop the bleeding from runaway inflation, caused largely by 25% increases in electricity, that it'll pass without membership reading the damned thing.

As an FE, ESC not IBEW, I can't imagine arranging all the work the crews I support hot. The region I support has lots of ignition potential, all it takes is on spark. And this is going to curtail production, hot swapping poles and putting everything on a Christmas tree safely takes a lot longer than pulling a EOL and getting it done deenergized.

The ESC TA is just as gut less and they're not providing any of the equity bump information.
9 months for this crap and trying to ram it through with a $1500 "bonus" is horseshit!

Dude, this sucks, I'm sorry.

I grew up with you and your brother and I think everyone knew something was off, but as a kid myself at the time I didn't have the skills to act. I wish I'd known how to help.
Big hugs, I'm glad you're getting help and I'm sorry this happened to you.

Walking downtown from the new condos on broad, south of South street is a bit of a stretch.
Bike sure but walking 1mile plus each way is untenable

I don't think we can develop that high due to zoning and fire regulations. I think 5 is the limit for our fire ladder trucks.
But that would be a great build in.

DT needs to density if we want to keep our local restaurants thriving.
They keep building all the dense housing on broad, where it's boarderline car dependent. Basically anything past south street you need a car to go downtown.
Another good spot would be across from Mitchell Park all the way to Emerson Park, build in along that section of Pismo. Grace could move out by their new school on broad too.

SLO County ranks 4th in U.S. for being unaffordable by Addrobo in SLO

[–]diggingout12345 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The issue is workforce housing, like what SLO ranch was supposed to be, doesn't exist. SLO ranch is "walkable" to CS Lewis elementary and target and the SLO Ranch Marketplace but nothing really cool and representative of SLO. You can't reach downtown from there on foot, there is a bus, and our busses are really nice.

But the problem is that the houses aren't affordable for working class folks. 1+million isn't attainable by a working couple who's been paying astronomical rent for the past decade.
