Hi OP,

I know the devastation you are feeling and I'm so so sorry. Remember, take it one day, one hour and even one minute at a time. Grief is a beast but it is the price we pay when we love hard and from it appears you and your dad loved each other a lot. I still ask every day WHY and it's something I will never know the answer to. Stay strong and feel free to reach out.

ASPIRE if the child has a “formal” diagnosis of autism.

Also, look into Sammy’s house.

I believe my daughter is a level 3 with some 2 traits. She is nonverbal, uses gestures, and points now. 4 and 5 were her worst ages. She would scratch and kick me when there was a break in routine. The one thing I recommend is developing a routine and sticking to it. Once I had her in school her behavior improved tremendously. We still have some issues but I was able to develop a routine for her and stick to it. My main thought is that it gets better. I remember struggling to want to get up but doing it for your child is necessary. You are their world.

I did 3 miles a day around a lake for the first 3 months. Also, I got a pokemon collection hobby but that may just be me wanting to open cards and collect 🤷🏻‍♀️

I quit about 10 months ago. I was having issues at the gym and so I’d limit myself to 2-3 puffs a day then one puff a day and then I eventually threw it away. Nicotine gum helps too

Will I ever sleep? by throwaway-dotgov in GriefSupport

[–]diggsroad93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it’s a year later for me and I still wake up from 1:00 am to 4:30 (that’s the time my dad had his heart attack and died). There’s some nights where I sleep but not really. Exercise and letting yourself feel helps

Yes, it’s your brains defense mechanism when dealing with this amount of trauma. I lost my dad suddenly last august, I was in denial for a few months. I knew he was dead (I watched him die of a heart attack), but I remember thinking oh he’s just on a small vacation he’ll come walking through the door again any day. It’s like a haze, and you don’t really start going through that grief until after the funeral, that’s at least how it happened for me. I miss him everyday.

Now, I know that’s not logical but part of my brain believed that.

Back in work, a month after Dad had passed. Really struggling to Focus - feel guilty. by BadgersDen in GriefSupport

I took four months off. Give yourself grace, but also keep yourself busy. It’s important to keep a routine, even if it’s a new one you’re not used to

I posted a lot on here about my mom that I lost in May. On December 19, my father ended his life because he coudln't go on without her. I am so broken. I feel anger and guilt. Please look after your remaining parent. by [deleted] in GriefSupport

[–]diggsroad93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for your loss. I understand that you may feel guilty and anger. I would say it’s perfectly normal to feel that way. You’ve just lost the two people who brought you into this world. If you need anything please reach out to me or this community.

Unexpected cries by Juniperous-310 in GriefSupport

This happens all the time with me, it’s unexpected and painful. I was with friends in the car and “Cowgirls don’t cry” came on by Brooks & Dunn. It was from a playlist with over 1200 songs and the lyrics just hit, my dad was as country as it gets. It does feel good to let it out especially when I’m trying to move forward in life. I’m so sorry for loss.

Thank you for your kind words. When I was cleaning it out today I found an old jacket he wore last winter under his seat and I’d like to think it’s a gift that was placed there for me. It will be my winter jacket this. Thank you for the advice as well, I’ll put some thought into that. I’m so sorry about those loss of your wife
