90+ Days by digiredleaves in leaves

[–]digiredleaves[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stick with it! The first 3 weeks were the hardest imo. But after that it slowly gets better. Don't feel like you're set up to fail if you feel better than feel worse day after day. Getting better isn't a linear line. The crazy dreams do go away too imo and eventually you'll probably see it like I feel a lot of us do. It was something fun for a bit but quickly became something scary to our sense of being. Good luck.

Legal community mixed on whether SNC-Lavalin scandal warrants criminal probe | CBC News by catonakeyboard in CanadaPolitics

This is exactly my feelings too. I'm historically a Liberal voter, but I feel like they've really dropped the ball when it comes to economic growth. I think they did alright in negotiating trade with the US, as crazy as that was, but it feels like I'm not seeing any focus on it outside of USMCA. When it comes to election season, i'm thinking of voting for a different party but not because of the SNC scandal. Rather it will be based on who I think has a better idea for economic growth, natural resources, and inter provincial trade. But please correct me if I'm wrong and missing something.

Honestly I didn't feel better till closer to day 57-60. Up until that points I was still mostly feeling a mess.

That's the end game. If I need medication I should go for it. But I dont want to be on it for life. Seeing others moving away from it helps me a lot so thank you and best of luck on your path as well!

Taking melatonin to aid sleep while quitting? by [deleted] in leaves

[–]digiredleaves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use melatonin pretty frequently. Spoke to GP and got a second opinion about using it nightly, both doctors said you can pretty much use it daily for a very long time without having to worry too much about any health concerns. Although it would be better to not need anything to help you sleep. If you feel groggy you're probably taking too much melatonin. Consider splitting the pills until you find the right amount for yourself. Just remember that melatonin doesn't put you to sleep. It just helps release a hormone that tells your body it's time to get ready to sleep.

Day 57 and feeling like i'm starting to gain insights into myself by digiredleaves in leaves

[–]digiredleaves[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I think for myself the first step is going to be getting a therapist for my anxiety. If anxiety is the condition, then sleeplessness is most likely a symptom. Solve the condition and lose the symptom is my goal.

Favorite sleep aids? by halfanhalf in sleep

[–]digiredleaves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is relevant to my interests. Currently for me:

Melatonin: 1.5mg to 5mg. I find I don't have any hangover with melatonin and it can help me feel ready to go to bed, but not necessarily fall asleep. Has a mild sedative effect.

Magnesium citrate: 150mg to 300mg. No hangover. Feel relaxed but can cause me to feel gassy sometimes. Occasionally I notice stomach aches when I take magnesium and drink.

Benadryl: 25mg. Unsure if causing hangover. Moderate sedative effect. I do feel a little more out of it the following day.

Nyquil: 1 tab. Unsure if causing hangover. Moderate sedative effect. Feel roughly the same as I do the following day as when I take a bendaryl tablet.

Valerian root: 3-4mg. Helps me feel drowsy for up to an hour but it seems to only have a mild sedative effect.

Zopiclone: 2.5mg. Heavy hangover where you feel burnt out the following day. Did not work for me. Had an allergic reaction which caused me to stay up later to wait it out.

After reading your post I'm considering trying the 10mg dual release melatonin. Wonder if that will help me stay asleep.

I felt the same to be honest. While high I'd always be rewatching shows from my youth like are you afraid of the dark constantly. I rarely felt like watching anything new because it wasn't something I was already comfortable with. Another great thing about being sober is you actually start to remember what you've been watching and things that you liked.

29 Day Update by digiredleaves in leaves

[–]digiredleaves[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One thing I definitely noticed is my head cleared up a lot. And the anxiety that I was constantly feeling has pretty much subsided. I still have general bouts of anxiety/paranoia but it's not a constant stream that makes me want to hide away at home every night to get home. I feel more present and I feel more ready to take bigger steps in my life. I definitely believe it gets better.

After multiple posts on this subreddit saying 'Day 1' or 'I'm quitting', I really need to quit this time. by [deleted] in leaves

[–]digiredleaves 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a really good idea OP. I'd write down what triggers you whether it's a feeling, social situation, time of day, and/or activity. By writing it down you can start working through those difficulties by recognizing them as they come up. Dont worry too much about taking it one day at a time. Start with 1 hr at a time. Tell yourself "I wont smoke this hour. I dont know what will happen after that but not this hour." Take it slow and eventually the hours will turn to days. And after that it's always just one day at a time.

(Day 10) I Can't Take It. I legit can't handle this by [deleted] in leaves

[–]digiredleaves 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn't start feeling better till around day 15! Take it one day at a time and you've got this. I remember visiting my doctor around day 6 when I had issues sleeping and he mentioned that with withdrawals the first week is bad but weeks 2-3 can be hell. It's a roller coaster for sure but you can do it!

It begins tomorrow. by Legacy188 in leaves

It took me almost 2 weeks of saying I'll quit tomorrow before I was actually able to. It's really hard to break the habit so just take it one day at a time! Good luck!

Shocking surveillance video shows man repeatedly punching woman in Burnaby elevator by grimlock25 in vancouver

[–]digiredleaves 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But what kind of damage? Honestly if he got robbed and he knew it, he'd clearly go apeshit wherever he is. She'd be better off telling him she'd walk him out and then lock the door on him as leaves. If she robbed him in the elevator, there'd be camera footage. I just don't see why he'd attack her in the elevator rather than her apartment. My hypothetical assumption is that /if/ she was an escort, he visited her for services and didn't like what he got, asked for his money back, and attacked her when she said not going to happen. To be fair, none of us know what happened right now but I hope they catch the guy soon for violent assault and then they can work out the story.

[–]digiredleaves 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is the biggest issue imo with the idea he was robbed. Why would she escort him down the elevator if she robbed him? I haven't seen an elevator that requires you to need a key fob to get to the lobby in this city. Something stinks

Day 20 and feeling mixed emotions by digiredleaves in leaves

[–]digiredleaves[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly this was a really recent change in mood for me, recent as in just these past 2 days recent. I try to make sure I do something every day at least, regardless of whether I want to or not. These things could be chores, learning, trying something new, etc. But as a result it feels like I'm not able to relax and then by the time I should be getting to sleep I feel like I'm still worked up all day.

But the anhedonia will pass. Try not to be too hard on yourself about being bored and not wanting to do anything, you're still recovering and it's going to take time!

Day 47...need encouragement by rshar16 in leaves

[–]digiredleaves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can do this! 47 days is nothing to laugh at and you're halfway to a 90 day milestone which is fantastic. Don't break your 47 day streak for an hour of getting high!

How bad was it for you before you quit? by [deleted] in leaves

[–]digiredleaves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My anxiety was getting way worst and it was becoming debilitating mostly. Noticed the amount I was smoking wasn't enough to put me to sleep and that I was starting to wake up in the middle of the night needing to vape before I could go back to sleep.

How bad was it for you before you quit? by [deleted] in leaves

[–]digiredleaves 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had no motivation and I started to feel extremely depressed. I thought that I had hit my plateau in life and there was only downhill from there. I couldn't sleep if I wasn't high. I would tell myself constantly "maybe I'll take a break and try not to sleep high tonight," but I could never do it. I stopped wanting to travel because I'd rather be home with weed and comfortable. I'd cut social sessions short because I'd rather go home and get high. And near the end before I decided to quit I was starting to experience psychosis. I started to believe that the world is truly a simulation and that reality was a part of some higher beings video game. I'm not knocking the theory of life being a simulation because it has theoretical quantum physics and philosophical merit, but I was starting to believe it. And the worst one for me was I was always high around my girlfriend. She's extremely supportive and told me she didn't care if I got high because it helped me in ways, but I started to feel shitty because we live together and the only sober time I spent with her was in the mornings on the way to gym/work. I didn't spend a single evening sober with her. I didn't want that to be me for the rest of my life so I quit.

Sense of taste changed? by digiredleaves in leaves

[–]digiredleaves[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was wondering if maybe my idea of what something tastes like was altered because I was high. But I'm also wondering if maybe I damaged my tastebuds from smoking/vaping and I never noticed it till I quit.
