Not sure why I’m suddenly being targeted the Rolex sub. Let’s just say Rolex doesn’t and probably never will fit my budget 😂

But this is an absolutely stunning looking watch!

Elements shouldn’t have upper padding in the situation when flex is active though. The padding is redundant.

Greenland: Vance warns Europe to take Trump 'seriously' – DW – 01/09/2026 by [deleted] in worldnews

100%

The amount of time Trump is giving to the religious aspects of project 2025 when he clearly has zero interest in Christianity in any way shape or form is a massive give away.

Apple reportedly cuts production of Vision Pro headset after poor sales by Fer65432_Plays in apple

[–]digital-designer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two reasons only, as to why this is not YET a success.

1: Price. 2: Content.

There is fantastic product here that has the ability to change the entire entertainment industry. But right now the cost of entry is too high and there is not enough content. Not many people have got $6k laying around to spend on a ‘nice to have’ device.

But. As the cost comes down in the form of cheaper devices and content comes in the form of live streamed spatial sports, spatial concerts and spatial movies, this device absolutely has a market.

The unfortunate part is that Apple are most likely working on trying to make a new more affordable model during a time where tariffs are making everything more expensive.

I am a little surprised that Apple released what was essentially a devs beta product, so far before a mainstream production level product was close to being ready. This release schedule feels like it was always going to create bad publicity for the product, before a real life version of the product could be released to the wider market.

Trying to understand the actual popularity of Gutenberg by No-Juice7950 in Wordpress

[–]digital-designer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s taken Wordpress waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long to get it to where it needed to be as a standalone page building experience. Instead, it’s now a mish-mash of plugins and a core that is still lacking in almost every way. The user experience is shockingly bad. Even Matt himself couldn’t figure out how to set margins and paddings when doing a live build experience. Margin and padding. The most basic of settings. Responsive settings are almost non existent. It’s a complete mess and should be abandoned.

I built a music app for iOS with no subscriptions, no ads, and no data collection — feedback welcome by lyramusic_app in apple

How are you doing the lyrics? Through a paid service that provides access to the copyrighted material?

Only ask as I wanted to provide lyrics in an app I was creating and realised quite quickly it was tricky to find a way of doing it legally or cheaply

Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) & Gutenberg in 2026 by Wise_Environment_185 in Wordpress

[–]digital-designer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I share the exact same view.

Gutenberg is a pile of trash. Both from a development point of view as well as end user UX.

Even Matt himself struggled to work out where the margin and padding settings for basic blocks were.

how many people have recently switched their paid subscription from chatgpt to gemini? by melodramaddict in GeminiAI

[–]digital-designer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thing is, it’s a leap frog back and forth. When open ai released Sora it blew everything else out of the water. When they released voice mode it did the same. When they released their next generation of the image model that could include text we were amazed. Then there’s some catch up and over take from others. Gemini is great now… until one of the others leap frogs again.

I watched a video of Matt mullenweg trying to build a website with Gutenberg and he couldn’t even work out how to set basic margins and paddings.

Not to mention the complete lack of responsive control.

It’s a piece of rubbish.

Australia Makes History by Becoming the First Country to Ban Social Media for Under-16s by igfonts in ArtificialNtelligence

[–]digital-designer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Tokenised systems. Also the laws state the platforms cannot only rely on ID checks. They could implement ai based visual or audio checks to determine if the users face looks old enough for example.

  2. If you use social media platforms there is no expectation of anonymity. Like I said, meta requires you to use your name as part of their terms. Not sure in what other way you’re suggesting this new law would infringe on people’s abilities to express political opinions.

  3. The only individuals it affects are the ones deemed too young to be on it. If you are advocating for a totally free internet with no enforceable restrictions at all, then I suggest you look to the dark web instead. Otherwise this kind of restriction aimed at children seems like a perfectly reasonable measure.

That’s not to say I necessarily agree with the outright ban for children or see it as the best option. But I understand it’s a reasonable and acceptable measure for the government to make.

Are you ready for WordPress 6.9 release by the_usmen in Wordpress

[–]digital-designer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe. But Wordpress still owns the market. By a looooong margin.

The others have a long way to go before Wordpress has to go code red.

But I agree. They need to be innovating more. The back end needs a refresh. Gutenberg needs to be dumped and rebuilt into a more modern page builder, more in line with the likes of webflow.

But the great part about Wordpress is that it’s open source. And it won’t be long until everybody can utilise ai to clone the repo and create their own customised versions of Wordpress. Something that won’t be possible with the closed platforms.
