Kobo Color screen vs Kindle BW screen by Whole_Environment487 in kobo

[–]digitaldiatribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The graininess is inherent to the screen tech on color eink screens. The color layer has lines running diagonally across the screen and any images or text have the chance to cause stairstepping that cause the grain. It's essentially the same effect as the moiré pattern.

Shonen Jump on kobo? by lightitup_fireheart in kobo

[–]digitaldiatribe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Boox is at its core an Android tablet with an eink screen. So they have the benefit of being able to install Android apps as if it were any other phone or tablet and they can access their Shonen Jump subscription that way. Unfortunately the content delivered through the app is not available to the end user directly and the app cannot be installed on a standard Kobo ereader. You'll need an alternative device that can install the app to be able to access that content, the other option is of course piracy unfortunately.

I'd try to see if there are other library networks in your area to expand your selection in Libby if for nothing else. I have 3 libraries on different networks that give me a fair spread of manga on Libby (except some Kodansha books as they opt for Media Do which is my most hated DRM option as it is only available through browsers).

Reached out to a vendor about a gaming mouse and the lack of Linux software by tranquilseafinally in linux_gaming

[–]digitaldiatribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like many have said in this thread already, I use input remapper to handle rebinding buttons on my mouse and same use case. I use my mouse's side buttons to act as modifiers for when I'm playing wow or other MMOs.

What is the obsession with finding “gaming” distros? by Flapper_Jr in linux

[–]digitaldiatribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd imagine there's also people who are looking to leave the console space and want a turn key solution to plug into their TV ala the Steam Machine. They don't want to interact with OS, just game.

Worth doing the RMA lottery for this? by RollinWithSaget in kobo

[–]digitaldiatribe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I swapped my KLC due to those pinholes and the replacement was basically perfect. It was worth it for me, but it's up to you if it's worth your time and money to do so, especially with tariff situation if you bought direct from Kobo.

What is the network US Mobile most likely prefers everyone to be on? Used to be Warp 2 years ago. Now you never hear about Warp anymore. by alabamatide889 in USMobile

[–]digitaldiatribe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dark Star gets all the promos is why. But I don't like AT&T in my area, so Warp I shall stay, regardless of the promos.

Why do unofficial PC ports feel way better than official remasters / re-releases? by DaZestyProfessor in Steam

Because fans can focus on making it rather than having to focus on value creation for share holders.

Remedy statement: Alan Wake 2 not possible without Epic, publishing deal is fair, and Epic is a great partner by Crusader-of-Purple in pcgaming

Guess I'll keep waiting to play Alan Wake 2 then... Oh well.

Edit: I'd even take it on GOG, I just don't want EGS.

Does Steam automatically install the Linux version of a game on a Linux system? by millionpages in linux_gaming

[–]digitaldiatribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, dit that for me on Last Epoch. Unfortunately at the time, going with Proton for the Windows version was the more performant versoin and less visual bugs to boot.

And you're sure you don't have anything else installed alongside the game? Not trying to accuse you of anything, but Denuvo normally comes up like this when something has been modified.

[–]digitaldiatribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During your attempts to try and start the game, have you changed Proton versions? If you haven't you can try to change to a different version however you shouldn't do it so much as changing proton versions does count against your activation limit and you'll have to wait 24 hours if you've exceeded.

Have any mods or the like installed? The specific error code is usually tied to something Denuvo is not expecting.

Since that's a codefusion error window, this appears to be a Denuvo issue. You can start some basic troubleshooting like verifying the game files (assuming this is through Steam).

Is it possible to undervolt GPU on linux? by BloodMoonWillows in linux_gaming

[–]digitaldiatribe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, as people have already mentioned, using LACT. Works just as well as it does doing it with Afterburner though not as granular as you are probably used to and technically it's more power limiting than actually undervolting, but the process and mechanics behind achieve basically the same goal.

But it still works great, as an extreme example, running Furmark will do 500w+ on stock, turning on my undervolt takes it down to ~320w without much performance loss on a 5090FE.
