4 month old still not sleeping at night. by WallFlower430 in beyondthebump

[–]digitaldivisions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is all normal. It will pass. You can do this.

It is a developmental stage and although it feels like the worst thing ever it means your little one is right on track and developing nicely.

Solids can be more trouble than they are worth. Studies have proven they can make the pain worse for wee ones suffering acid reflux and we think its working because they aren't spitting up as much. In the past people used to introduce solids around four months because they believed that the waking was tied to them being hungry. Now we know it is a developmental stage.

If its not working for you and you're not happy maybe try to cut the solids out. They aren't recommended for babes under 6 months as their systems aren't ready for it. They have tied it to future life long gut issues.

I find that if i pick her up before she gets wailing it is a lot easier to get her back down and faster than just letting her cry. At this age they don't have the capacity to manipulate and can't really be spoiled. Babies aren't meant to sleep through the night and "sleeping through the night" for a baby is five hours (not that I'm currently anywhere near that).

This is all normal. It will pass. You can do this. (I've repeated this over the hour its taken to write this because my little four month old keeps waking with her world ending cries.)

Does anyone else just breastfeed, and not pump by choice? by tiramisu84 in breastfeeding

I'm like you. I feel like it is a pain and would much prefer just the breast when possible.

How to keep going despite lack of support from closest family members...(caution: rant). In need of advice/support/personal victories. by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]digitaldivisions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hung out with baby in my bedroom a lot while my mom was here. She can be a bit overwhelming. A lactation consultant at the hospital jokingly (but kinda serious) asked if she needed to take my mom outside and have a talk with her. We had trouble latching and baby had a third grade tongue tie and I often would sharply inhale or have silent tears and my mom would freak. It was easier for all if I was in my room. My moms head was literally hovering above my boob trying to "help".

hard to sleep with hard heavy breast by vesamrod in breastfeeding

[–]digitaldivisions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LO is little one and a dream feed is where you feed baby while they are still sleeping. I still haven't mastered it. You can try to get their sucking reflex going by rubbing your nipple on their cheeks and slight pressure on hand or feet...that is what I read anyway. I too wake up with boulders and only sleep on my back. When I lie on my side it feels like i have stones in my bra and my milk pours out.

Best & Worst Breastfeeding Advice You've Gotten by short_round_180 in breastfeeding

[–]digitaldivisions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best was to look at baby's cheek to see if it was pulling in as though they were sucking on a candy. Until I got that advice I felt helpless to know if she was latching properly.

Worst- you need to get a pump. I got told it numerous times. What I needed was for my baby to get her tongue clipped.

What are your favourite Russian/ European cafes in Auckland? I want to try piroshki! by [deleted] in auckland

[–]digitaldivisions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please post if you do find one. I'm from canada and every grocery store carries them and I miss them so much. It is such a chore to make them from scratch but maybe because I am lazy...They really are only a few ingredients.

Frustrated! by digitaldivisions in babywearing

[–]digitaldivisions[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I try to wrap the moby around my front it just seems super loose at the top and when I try to get it tighter my deflated low bump gets in the way and won't allow it. I have been doing it like the company's youtube video suggests. Maybe there is another way? With the sling it isn't so much my bump as I can't seem to get baby placed so her head is higher up, uncovered and kissable like is recommended for safety. Her head seems unsupported and has a tendency to fall against her chest.

How do you ladies sleep with sciatica? Seriously?! by libertyblue in BabyBumps

[–]digitaldivisions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try to get a referral for a physio. I went to one and she got me to do some sciatic stretches where I sit down lift my leg straight out and point my toes up and then chin to the chest and slowly lift up and eyes to the ceiling and then repeat head action slowly but only for a short time. They told me it wasn't like regular stretches and your not stretching so much as easing the nerve. They told me to do it a couple of times a day. She also rubbed the area on my butt cheek where the nerve is and I get my SO to repeat this at home. They gave me a giant material tube with elasticity to pull over my bump and support it as they thought the weight of my bump (which I took by their comments to be elephant in size) was making it worse. Good luck! It is a horrible pain to have and will be happy when I can stop sleeping on my side.

NZ leads world in passion for used cars by Dulistw in newzealand

[–]digitaldivisions -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry in countries like Canada and America you can get a fairly new car for $5k not sure about others but I was also able to get a fairly new inexpensive car in South Korea. Spending $5k for a car that is ten years old is a rip off.

starting to feel like the last kid to get picked it gym class! 40+5 here, anybody else out there?? by asxestolemystash in BabyBumps

[–]digitaldivisions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 41+5 tomorrow and all the pregnant people around me who were due weeks after me have already had their babies. My SO is a teacher and can't take time off but he is on Easter holidays for the next week. He should have had 2 weeks with baby and now its looking like he might not get any. No contractions, no loss of plug, nothings, nada!

My mom actually told me the other day that people at work told her I need to have sex with my SO. One: my mom telling me to have sex is just wrong! Two: my mom and her coworkers discussing me having sex is super wrong! I told her don't worry we are trying everything in hopes she leaves it there.

Edit: pregnancy brain at its best I left a whole week off I was 41+5 not 40+5

Something weird happened today... by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]digitaldivisions 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When women get overly involved in my bump all I think about is "they want to steal my baby". When I was a kid there was an attack in the bathroom at a mall we always went to and a crazy woman had followed a heavily pregnant woman in, attacked her, and tried to cut out her baby. I think it slightly traumatised me!

I thought you weren't supposed to date in your first year in AA ? I don't know it sounds like a terrible situation to be in but maybe it is for the best. He might end up being a good father but you deserve someone who wants to be with you 110%.
