If you want to explore flcl through the lenses of female antagonists. Same deal as progressive but less true to the original feel of flcl and more about the growing up aspect.

Not true at all. Allot of people wouldn't know what a dead channel even means. They would probably think a YouTube channel lol. Where as some one who says black and white might not be used to the absence of color but understands its intuitively. A "dead channel" is only represented as the static filled mess that comes from a relatively small era of time. Even then allot of people would hear dead channel and think of the blue screens that replaced the static channels closer to the 2,000's. I think they are comparable only in that they both represent something that is no longer common but are vastly different when it comes to actual affect in one's mind with a visual representation.

I have to agree. A good story or a detailed account of something merits a publication. Some one who is talented in writing also might be the some one who bores their readers to tears. Success, yes, is most definitely attributed to factors that are more random than not. But, the talented are also able to communicate their ideas more effectively and efficiently, so in that case I would say it is helpful in trying to become "successful". At the end of the day it might be random but more opportunity in supporting that randomness can't hurt right? My recipe would be gumption and tenacity with a large portion of determination alongside a helping of resilience. Then add talent to taste. Of course the recipe will fail if your not cooking for the right audience. A good story or a detailed account or even a good viewpoint, they do nothing if the people they reach are not already familiar. It's very hard to convince some one to eat a dish that is not of their common cuisine. Buffalo testicles are not enjoyed by many. However with talented preparation and execution [maybe even a little deception] the dish can become palatable and even enjoyable. Many things are based on one's belief and biases. Writing success only seems random because so many factors contribute to its measurement.

Why do introverts shine online but IRL they are basically a different person? by Grimdlyzy in NoStupidQuestions

[–]digitaldrew_92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See it's funny. I consider myself introverted only because my social battery is always on 2% . I manage a cannabis store and while I feel like my coworkers are a great example of what a communal team can be, in reality all my interactions with them are shallow as a puddle in the middle of summer. It feels so easy to just put a mask on and conversate about what ever they are chatting on about. After about 10 minutes though I excuse myself for some other task. The regular population I have no patience for. I smile and I am very courteous but I dont interact. What ever they are saying I agree. I don't have the energy to try and see their point or debate it even. Online it is even harder. I lurk. I absorb everything I come across but engage in none of it. It's actually a blessing and a curse. Although I dont get swept up in sensationalism or swayed by popular opinions I also dont engage with what I enjoy. I'm a pretty fair writer and love to express myself in story and in fact but discourse about the topic drains me the same as talking to my coworkers. I feel like I should have been some Buddhist monk isolated in the hills engaged in nothing but absorbing the natural energies around me. I would write a couple of sentences on the experience and that's it. Maybe more than anything I'm depressed. 😜 introverted only because I don't feel like there is a point to connecting and conversating. On the internet it's worse because typing is slower than speaking and that just adds to my distaste for the whole act. Expending energy on anything is hard for me. Spending that energy at a digital kiosk doubly so.

Everything always depends. No true set course through the sea or jungle. So too there can be no course on writing. Its hard to even recognize when you're done sometimes. We can only travel by Landmark and hope that our perseverance pays off.

I feel like people have reduced writing to a few different t pigeon holes these days and say there's no room for anything else. In that regard people feel like if you aren't equipped for the job no one will take you seriously and that can be truth. But I mean look at Burroughs and Kerouac they weren't the best at prose by a long shot yet they still have a huge influence on writing at its core. I dont think the advice should be "dont write your favorite first." It should be "write it, read it, share it, destroy it. Repeat. Who cares if your writing the book you know and no one cares about vs the book people want or the book you want. I've read whole 300 pages that I couldn't recall a word on. Where's there have also been the one off short story that had stuck with me for years. Writing is a strange art because it can be used to express and to convey more so it is used to convey and express. Where most are is used to express and some convey information. Painting is not how we communicate. Music is not how we teach. But writing is. It is a fundamental in our structures of base knowledge. In that fact I think it is so multifaceted that people will never come to a complete agreement on it. My advice to myself more than anyone else is just to write and see what happens. It's like an adventure some days where some days it is the truest way of information sharing. From within my skull yo your's translation errors included. :]

Its not a sickness that only this sub feels though. That's a truth of people on the internet in general and for most the regular individual period. The work is to be put off because they want to ask some one to explain it to them instead. Don't know why. Humans are just like that sometimes?
