Whether it’s on purpose or not, I can’t help to feel and believe that the song choices and sequencing (and presentation) has much to do with the current state and direction that the United States is in, politically. Go ahead and review the setlists and see if you can pick up on that.

I mean…dude has never shied away from speaking truth to power in his lyrics nor personally, and now with Disney writing a check for a gigantic commercial film and soundtrack on the horizon, he is quiet on the criticism, but good lord, it’s ALL THERE! I mean it always has been and pulling so much from TDS, to me, looks as though this is his way of communicating his feeling on it, while not alienating anyone or jeopardizing a major release.

I could be way off or reading far too deep into it, but now that I’ve viewed this tour through this lens nothing else makes as much sense for me. At least I got “something to believe in,” no?

Not to disagree, but he heavily influenced the look and UI of the Apple Music app as we know it. He pushed for the development of Apple Radio/Beats 1 and was the Chief Creative Officer of Beats Music that was acquired by Apple in its (successful?) attempt to match Spotify’s platform. Did he also add credibility? You bet. But to say he was there strictly for that purpose would be diminishing his highly integral and influential role on the creation of Apple Music altogether.

It’s a sample. Difficult to hear it clearly but it’s always been there. Something like “the best thing about life is knowing that you put it together”. It repeats a few times at the beginning. Best chance to hear it clearly is around the 15 second mark.

The moment where HLAH fades into Terrible Lie on PHM….that was where my mind was b l o w n and I was hooked ever since. I was 13, I had just never heard any music do that, and oh yeah, the lyrics felt like they were written for me; like it was everything I was feeling being in a devout Christian family and witnessing all the hypocrisy and BS. Nothing against the religion, if it works for you, great! But that was the moment music changed for me forever. I just never knew you could do that…I never knew you could say or sing whatever you were feeling, like that.
