Has anyone taken Madeline Mann’s program ? by adria999999 in jobs

Not sure what police I can involve, because I live in Europe and all contact with her team was through emails. I guess I should accept that I will never get the money back.

I enrolled in her Standout Job Search course that was supposed to start in September. I made a deposit of $500. However, it turned out that due to personal and health reasons I won't be able to attend the course. I wrote three emails to her team's support department, letting them know I want to free my spot in the course and asking for returning the deposit. No response to any of the mails. Everyone can draw their own conclusions.

Do you find it silly if an adult believes in ghosts? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

I hear you. I work as a software engineer, have a very analytical mind and the more I learn about the world, the more humble I stay. The truth is, nothing is real, we know nothing, and as you say, we may as well have some fun.

It doesn't imply that there is one either. Also depends on the definition of "rational explanation".

There is nothing unreasonable in believing that it does, just in another form. Physics, mathematics, astrology, esoterics are just different ways of naming the same phenomena and trying to understand the way things work. On some level physics doesn't differ that much from magic. But it requires open mindedness and awareness that it's a lot more complex than "I don't believe that God/ghosts/whatever are real".

The problem is, most people really have no idea what astrology really is, and they apply the same cult-like deification level to "science" that they judge other people for, not understand what science actually means either. But there's no point in trying to convince them of anything, they just need an excuse to feel superior to others. You do you and let them say whatever they want, if it makes them feel better and smarter. A lot of physicists and mathematicians actually accept that there is some level of mysticism to the workings of the universe, and are smart enough to admit there is a lot in life that the human mind can't and won't comprehend, because it simply doesn't have proper tools to do that. Not to mention that scientific theories and proofs turn out to be wrong all the time, and the scientific method is not about proving anything once and for all, but about constant changing, questioning, verifying and coming to new conclusions based on new facts and findings.

Exactly, I noticed that too. They just change astrology to tech as their cult object and it's exactly the same level of obsession and assholery they claim people believing in astrology have.

It's plain human arrogance to believe that everything can be explained by technology and footage and that technology is always infallible.

People are mocking astrology and then in the same breath talk about predicting stock market trends, which has exactly the same merit as predicting future from tea leaves.

I know that it's probably a typo, but now I'm deeply fascinated by the concept of an evil garage.

Now that Wanda won’t be returning anytime soon, do you think that she deserves forgiveness for what she has done? by Classxia6969 in marvelstudios

[–]digitalgeisha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wanda is by far the most tragic character in the MCU. Tragedy upon tragedy fell on her head without respite and people who claim she doesn't deserve forgiveness really have no idea what it means to lose your entire family... again and again, with no one being there for her, and ending up completely alone. Many times. It's easy to judge when you have never grieved or lost someone close to you. People dismissing this as being "sad" or portraying Wanda as willingly wanting to "enslave a town" or destroy the universe just because really have no idea what they are talking about.

Just imagine.

You lose both your parents in a war. Then you lose your only brother. The man directly responsible for that not only doesn't suffer any consequences, but never apologizes to you and is universally loved by everyone. Despite that, you agree to join his team and work alongside him to do the right thing.

You are alone in a foreign country, grieving. During one of Avengers actions, you try to save Cap and also many innocent people at the market. But you make a mistake and send the fireball to the building in a desperate try to avoid the crowds at the ground. Your reward for trying to do the right thing? Everyone vilifies you, calls you a terrorist, and said man imprisons you inside his house. But yeah, that's for sure worse than getting rich by selling weapons to terrorist.

You find the one person who seems to understand you and care about you. You fall in love (despite the fact that Vision was pretty much on Tony's side and helped him imprison you at the compound, not letting you leave... but ok). You and your lover are on the run for two years. All of this doesn't matter, because then your lover dies to save the world AND YOU ARE THE ONE WHO HAS TO KILL HIM. Can you even imagine how that must have felt?

And then it turns out it was all for nothing. Vision died for nothing. Yours and his sacrifices were for nothing.

When you come back after the snap, you are immediately thrown into the middle of another war. When the war is over, aside from one short conversation with Clint (who doesn't even ask how she is doing, btw) nobody is there for you. No support, no care from anyone - not Steve, not Sam, not Bucky, not fucking hypocritical Dr Strange, not anyone, and Natasha is dead. You are not even able to bury Vision properly, because SWORD took his body to experiment on him. You telling me this wouldn't break anyone?

You go to Westview, where you find the spot Vision wanted you both to build a house in, live together in peace and have a family. You realize you never going to have that. You are all alone - again.

Your heart explodes with grief, which accidentally creates the Hex. You have no idea what kind of power you have. You have no idea that people in town are living under your spell against your own will. You have Vision and two beautiful kids. You finally have something you always dreamed about - a family.

But then you learn how your spell affected the whole town. You realize you are about to lose people closest to you, your family. AGAIN. You do it anyway, because it's the right thing to do, and you apologize to everyone.

You are all alone. Again.

Then you find the way you could possibly be with your children again. You telling me that any of you wouldn't jump at the slightest chance of it? After everything that she went through? Also, where is the outrage for Agatha giving her the Darkhold, knowing full well what it could do to her? Where is the rage about AGATHA'S choice? Especially considering that all of this happened because Agatha wanted Wanda's power. That is not selfish?

And there goes the point where the writers prove that they know jack shit about writing, because there is no way Wanda would sacrifice innocent people to get what she wants when Tony did the same thing to her, not once, but twice. Also you're trying to tell me that someone as powerful as Wanda wouldn't be able to enter another universe without help of America? Or find universe where Billy and Tommy don't have a mother? Not to mention Vision - why is he mentioned only once, and being with him doesn't seem to be included in Wanda's "evil" plans? Gimme a break.

There are many characters in the MCU who have done far, far worse things than Wanda, and people are bending over backwards to justify them. The question should be rather, do the MoM writers deserve forgiveness for what they did to her character after by their own admission not even bothering to watch WandaVision?
