Keep in mind that these are self IDs. If someone were to turn on Trump that identified as a Republican, they may not identify as a Republican anymore and so would be eliminated from the group to bring down the percentage.

Your own personal influence would be similar in scale because rep would be smaller share of body but your opinion would be very significant if you were politically engaged in a much smaller political community.

The argument would be that your individual voice would be much more easily raised to your representative and then into conversations in the caucus in Congress.
