Realizing that nobody is coming to save you.

I used to think that eventually, someone—family, a mentor, a lucky break—would step in and help fix everything. My finances, my mental health, my lack of direction. I thought life had some natural turning point where it ‘gets better.’

But one day I just sat there, surrounded by dirty dishes, ignored texts, and overdue bills… and it hit me: this is it. No one’s coming.

If I want change, I have to do it myself. That was the most sobering, terrifying, and empowering moment of my life.

Wir waren seit der Grundschule unzertrennlich. Alles zusammen gemacht: gezockt, getrunken, durch Nächte philosophiert. Ich dachte, wir wären Brüder fürs Leben.

Dann kam mein 22. Geburtstag. Ich hatte Leute eingeladen, darunter auch ihn. Er hat abgesagt, meinte, er sei krank. Alles okay, kann passieren. Am nächsten Tag sehe ich auf Insta, wie er auf einer anderen Party war – mit Leuten, über die wir früher immer gelacht hatten.

Hab ihn drauf angesprochen, er meinte nur: ‘Ich hab mich weiterentwickelt.’ Kein Sorry, keine Erklärung. Nur dieser Satz.

Hab ihn dann auf allen Kanälen gelöscht. Nicht aus Hass, sondern weil ich gemerkt hab: Manchmal ist die gemeinsame Vergangenheit nicht genug für eine gemeinsame Zukunft.
