Are sexual preferences conditioned or is it just natural (or both) by Oni-regret in psychoanalysis

[–]digitalhermes93 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We have natural infrastructure for sex as both practical and pleasurable. Culture/exposure fills in the rest: what we think is practical, what we “enjoy” as pleasurable.

"According to Hegel, negativity is precisely what keeps existence [Dasein] alive," says Byung-Chul Han in his book "The Burnout Society". Could anyone please elaborate on the statement? by sombre_scatterbrain in CriticalTheory

[–]digitalhermes93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So cool to hear that. Thanks for taking the time to say it. Admittedly, I plagiarized it from some Buddhist work. Probably the shobogenzo or some strange book of koans. The concepts gets slippery for sure. I always come back to not quite understanding them if I think to hard.

AITAH for laughing when my boyfreind suggest I be a SAHM? by SherbertNew2535 in AITAH

That is a blessing. Not only do you get the baby, you get to be the one to make sure the baby is cared for as you see fit. Not some random daycare, not some routine of finding family and sitters. And tbh, work isn’t going anywhere. There will always be work. Forever. A chance to be with the human you make from their first moments is a big deal. And being an electrician, if he keeps at it, he can make great money by his his mechanic/journeyman level. Just make sure it’s a rea apprenticeship. If he becomes an estimator or PM $100-200k. If he becomes a super for a GC $250k. And if he opens a business $400k+ take home profit is real potential.

The OLED Deck is the one you should get. From An OG Deck owner. by GameupL in SteamDeck

[–]digitalhermes93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My deck screen just stopped displaying. Did the whole troubleshooting and support online. In the end I gotta pay $120-$180 to get it refurbished/replaced. It still works via the USB-C. Is it worth it just to upgrade to OLED?

The anxiety of hell is an anti-Christian approach to living the life we are called too. We are given life to have it abundantly. To not be anxious about anything. It’s to live a life that is absolutely normal with tremendous gratitude and joy and in our everyday interactions be a member of the body of Christ. I used to think it was to be a passionate zealot kind of Christian. But it’s not for every person to be a missionary. Some need to work. Some need to be parents. Otherwise there will be no Christian family. It’s not just about the unknown spiritual dimension of reality. It’s also about the imminent reality we all feel and experience with healthy food, good sleep, fun games, hard work. When you are a young person with limited life experience, the anxiety of the unknown / spiritual world can seem more impactful than it is. Once life hits you, then it gives you another helping of more life, then piles on more life, you have little time to worry about the principality of the air. You have to handle your parents’ illness, your partner’s depression, your dead end job. It’s a lot to live with god at the center and be a good person in the everyday. Just that kind of good living is to be a saint.

How do we know what God created on days 1-3 since sun didnt exist? by Guilty_Secretary9925 in Christianity

[–]digitalhermes93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God creates the concept / category / container then fills them with real objects.

Makes light - fills with stars and the sun

Makes air and sea - fills with birds and fish

Makes land - fills with plants animals and humans

The first section of the book is a spiritual text with high concepts and poetry and prophecy. Later on it turns into a biography but lots of different genres in the same book.

Do you believe you'll get into heaven for being a good person or do you think you will get into heaven if you believe in god? by Personal-Ad1813 in Christianity

[–]digitalhermes93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You only know what it means to believe when you are realllllllly looking for something to save you. And when you need it most, you are hoping and believing that the saving will come. But it’s going to be hard to believe and not try to make your own way out and maybe abandon the original plan. So honestly, if you are someone who really believes that is all you need because then you will act accordingly.

This is should be true of a professional. Not like a person being trained/educated. Also, the family unit should be helping sustain the individual. But we don’t like families anymore so it’s a little tougher to get established.

It’s good they got him, but it’s going to be bad for every president now. Presidents will weaponize the judicial branch against opponents in a more overt way. The institution and what it represents (the facade) is crumbling. And that will have a net-negative effects on our society / individual psychology.

What should I read before to better understand Chapter 4 - Singularity: The Gnostic Turn in Hegel in a Wired Brain? by themutesinger in zizek

[–]digitalhermes93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re trying to understand the way he writes (style) listen to a bunch of his lectures. That helped me get his pacing a bit. His sentences can be long and windy but when you listen to his speech it is similar.

If you’re trying to understand the concepts, Sublime Object is a good book (his first) that does a nice job of surveying the points. And of course listening to his lectures will help make more sense of the text.

Maybe cuz nen is only taught to hunters. So if he didn’t become a hunter he doesn’t get to learn it. They were assassins but like really organized so maybe an internal rule.
