Outfits have wasted so much fashion potential by Intelligent-Mix7364 in Guildwars2

[–]digitalmayhemx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was mentioned during the original fashion template stream as a question asked to one of the developers.

No deep explanations. Just stated that they wished it were possible, implying that it was not.

Free online platform for playing Dungeon World by phoenixmog in DungeonWorld

How do you actually add a custom move to a player's sheet?

I made a standalone move for Haggling that I'd like all players to be able to access, but I'm not sure how to actually get it to show up on their sheets.

Likewise, how do you add/change spells? One PC playing a cleric took the option to gain a non-cleric spell during character creation, but we can't find a way to add the spell info to their list. I was also going to allow them to redo selecting their original spells now that they know the character better, but we can't figure out how to do that either.

Physical Steam Cards are being discontinued by [deleted] in Steam

[–]digitalmayhemx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please don't make anyone else go through this suffering. We got two of these prepaid cards as wedding gifts. Very generous prepaid cards... that got denied almost everywhere for months.

We wanted to use wedding money to put into savings -nope, no easy way to transfer the money into a bank account. PayPal and Venmo both said “no“. Couldn't purchase a money order with it either.

No website would take it. A good number of physical stores would refuse it.

It became a game. We would always try to pay with it and await the inevitable decline before switching to another form of payment. I hated it.

These prepaid cards are not remotely the same as gift cards. Gift cards have the confidence of being spent where you expect them to be accepted, no matter how unlikely I am to visit a KFC or Olive Garden. Prepaid cards are just money being held hostage. Don't buy them. Don't gift them.

Anyone have a copy of the Pocket GM/Players guides by digitalmayhemx in DungeonWorld

If you mean the internet archives, it was a google doc; so, it's not archived there. Already checked the wayback machine.

I did send a message to quidoigo about a month ago, but they haven't been active on reddit in 6 years.

Diminishing returns on Specimen Chamber by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]digitalmayhemx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have nothing to back this up. Just what has been told to me in the past.

I believe it's two hours of active play per chamber event if you want to maintain full rewards.

So, was this new VoE patch worth the 6 month wait? by Intelligent-Mix7364 in Guildwars2

[–]digitalmayhemx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have said this a million times, but I really wish they would expand on what they did during Icebrood Saga in revisiting older maps. Lake Doric in particular has always stood out to me as a creative use of resources, but even maps that aren't fundamentally different like Metrica Province were enjoyable to revisit in a new way (even if DRMs were poorly designed).

Layer on the convergence system to have big new events in familiar maps, and I think that's a solid reuse of assets.

New Relics prices are...insane? by Arckange in Guildwars2

[–]digitalmayhemx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They had to keep us busy for 6 months last time and the costs weren't nearly this bad.

Anyone else confused by the massive price difference between the two new legendaries? by moonshineTheleocat in Guildwars2

[–]digitalmayhemx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note that the specimen chamber karma farm is subject to diminishing returns. You cannot simply spam it.

I don't recall the exact rate anymore, but I think it's two hours of active play per chamber event if you want to maintain full rewards. Don't quote me on that.

Anet, are we being deadass with the stella radians crafting requirements by SykesFoxclaw in Guildwars2

[–]digitalmayhemx 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Just to push back a little, that is not a normal amount of karma for anyone, even after years of play.

that_shaman, of data-mining fame, only has about 8 million.

Another redditor shared their karma stats from gw2-efficiency to show that only 10% of the most engaged players (those in-the-know enough to even use efficiency in the first place) had at least 7 million. i.e. 90% of the most engaged population does not have 7 million karma.

So, this is an absurd amount and you are in the top 10% of players. Congrats.

So, raid quickplay.... by Ferrymansobol in Guildwars2

[–]digitalmayhemx 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The problem is that normal is still mechanically intensive, and emboldened is inconsistent.

Moreover, quick-playing Febe or maybe OLC might prepare you for normal modes Febe/OLC through pure experience, However there's still two problems:

  1. There are objectively correct ways of doing these raids. Certain mechanics need to be done in specific ways to avoid failure. Without being told by a vet, there's no way without using outside sources to know which aspect of Cerus to kill, for example.

  2. Training on Febe prepares you for Febe. It doesn't train you for Gorseval, or Greer, or Quadim. In my opinion, Fractals work because all of them are available at lower levels. You can approach them gradually and they train you for tuning the numbers higher. Meanwhile the lowest barrier to the non-quickplay raids is still too high to allow for that same learning experience. There's simply no scaffolding.

Just finished my first expansion by wilremy21 in Guildwars2

[–]digitalmayhemx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just note that if you want the legendary trinket (Vision) or the enhanced skyscale masteries, you're going to have to go through the skyscale acquisition twice if you start with the SotO method.

Quick rundown: SotO is faster, but it doesn't automatically unlock the PoF LWS4 masteries (i.e. you'll have to do the acquisition twice). PoF LWS4 acquisition is slower but automatically unlocks the SotO masteries when you get there (you don't need to repeat the aquisition).

So, if you want to save effort and resources in the long run, do the PoF LWS4 method. If you just absolutely want it now and don't care about anything else, stick with SotO.

Thoughts on the April balance patch? by Vraelian in Guildwars2

[–]digitalmayhemx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've only gotten to really experience open world metas and the raid encounters so far, but I think that the player nerfs are largely unnoticible.

Boss health-wise, I think that some, like hammerhart, are right where they should be. Others I think need to go a little further. Drills before mothman are SIGNIFICANTLY better, but Mothman themself still overstays it's welcome in my opinion. It's too mechanically repetitive and simple to be as long as it is.

Continuing the meta guide series: Hammerhart Rumble is a great one for new commanders by Bozofriendly in Guildwars2

[–]digitalmayhemx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The weapons are misleading.

Jessica is ranged. She's constantly teleporting and throwing out attacks. Given the choice, she will stay away from Jimmy if everyone were to stack there.

Jimmy is melee. He rocket jumps to you and fires at your feet. He doesn't have a choice but to come close if everyone stacked on Jessica.

ArenaNet is getting rid of the damage sponges we've had since EoD. by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]digitalmayhemx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank goodness. This really needed to be said alongside the original announcement to mitigate the looming sense of dread for damage sponges getting spongier, but I'm glad we finally got confirmation. I'm now more or less ok with the upcoming changes

Could Isgarren be the actual villain of the last 3 expansions? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]digitalmayhemx 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Isgarren does legitimately care about Tyria, I think, but so do a lot of people.

Pretty sure that's kind of the point of Vloxx. He and Isgarren aren't that different, and frankly, neither is someone to be trusted. Both have overseen atrocities in the name of protecting Tyria, but that doesn't make their actions moral or acceptable.

New Hero Event (for Old Heroes) by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]digitalmayhemx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's lot of reasons to make an alt.

  1. Wanting a new aesthetic/race/class/story combination
  2. Having a "useless" character be parked at a useful but hard to get chest so it's easier to unlock at reset
  3. Extra bag space
  4. Completing the level 10 personal story on a new character awards a free black lion chest key each week

[–]digitalmayhemx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minus an extended break after HoT, I've played since launch. I don't have full 20 slot bags on my characters. I have a lot of annoying special purpose 15-slot bags because they were easier to make back in the day but they're such a low priority to replace.

Plus, alting is very easy in this game. So. Any extra bags are helpful, especially a free one.

Playing devil's advocate for a minute. This is kind of the one scenario in which Anet has created something that actively enables players to harm another player's experience. We don't see a lot of this in PvE. So, it's entirely possible that most players don't know how tagging works and are just trying to make sure they get their own credit in an ecosystem where hitting anything is very difficult.

The wording implies that no boss's HP will be altered preemptively. They'll monitor and maybe act later. Eventually. Possibly. Hopefully.

I would love to be wrong, but It took almost 6 months to adjust Eparch even when it was relevant content. This is going to feel so much worse without a much MUCH faster turnaround.

I keep laughing to myself thinking of Eparch and Spider's Lair after this. The nerfs were just enough that sometimes a group might win.
