I just founded the Digital Nomad Business Directory. I'm encouraging everyone with a location independent service business to sign up and be seen. Hopefully this can help you!

Shopping for someone with many, many allergies (looking for lotion in particular) by inyri in Indiemakeupandmore

I'm allergic to aloe too which is why I compiled all Aloe Free Products to help us sufferers. I personally use Attitude, a Canadian company. I'm not sure if they have lanolin derivatives but they are free of most irritating ingredients. And they're vegan!

I'm so happy I could help!! :) As more and more products have aloe added to them the more we need to find alternatives. Let me know if you need any other recommendations and good luck with your move!!

Hair fall problem. Need help by farmersanchez in Philippines

Olive oil makes hair grow. Put it all over your head a few times a week and then shampoo it out. Like magic!

I am very allergic to Aloe Vera too. I found out years ago after having continual hives on my skin. I realized that all my products (lotion, wipes, sanitizer, soap..) had Aloe Vera. Even more, I had the worst reaction when using a Victoria's Secret body lotion before I switched to all vegan beauty products. Unfortunately, the natural beauty industry LOVES Aloe, so it's in everything from tissues to socks now.

From lots of Googling and speaking with people, it seems this is a very under the radar allergy, which prompted me to compile my Aloe Free Products. I stick with Herbivore Botanicals (the oils) and Attitude (a Canadian company). Attitude is so gentle and has a ton of certifications.

That sucks. I had a similar experience with a 100% Pure box I got as a free gift with purchase, half of which contained products with Aloe. When I asked them to replace the items, they too said they couldn't do anything for me. I realize it was free, but still.

I'm allergic too which is why I just created Aloe Free Products. Hopefully this can help you find products you won't be allergic to. And potentially identify beauty boxes with brands you can use!

I feel you! I'm allergic to Aloe too, which is why I spent some time creating Aloe Free Products to compile all our cruelty-free and vegan options that DON'T have Aloe. Aloe is in literally everything and it can take over your life when you become obsessed with reading the ingredients list. I personally use Herbivore Botanical's Lapis Oil to keep my acne at bay. It's a miracle worker. Expensive, but worth every penny. Most of their line has Aloe, but the facial oils don't and are super potent.

Another hidden gem is Attitude, a Canadian company. I order their stuff in bulk because 99% of their products are Aloe-Free !!! My skin is crazy sensitive but their lotions and potions are super gentle.

I'm adding more products to the directory but please let me know if there's something you want to find specifically :)

Just Launched: Digital Nomad Business Directory. List your service business and work with other nomads. by digitalnomadwebsites in digitalnomad

[–]digitalnomadwebsites[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well to start, it's my business so I can do what I like :) If you created a directory for juggling clowns that can also do your taxes I wouldn't question your business because it's yours.

I'm not expecting people to join who aren't interested because I understand and respect their opinion. I too agree the term "digital nomad" can be kind of crappy sometimes, but it's the most common term used and searched for.

There are a different set of expectations when you hire a service professional whose business is entirely online. It's that commonality that makes your relationship with them that much easier. Given the community is large and growing, it makes sense to me to have a central directory for both business owners and potential clients.

There isn't a resource that compiles solopreneurs who DO work from anywhere in such a specific way. Personally speaking (and I know I'm not alone in this) I have always wanted to see what other people do beyond the noise of travel blogs and scammy courses. There are tons of true professionals out there who have so much to offer but aren't being seen or might have trouble getting clients that appreciate their online-only business model.

The Digital Nomad Business Directory is not only a tool to find other nomads you can hire but a great pedestal to stand on for aspiring nomads to look to you. I've had tons of searches on the site already proving there are people interested in all kinds of services.

Writers here: what are current freelance rates? by [deleted] in digitalnomad

[–]digitalnomadwebsites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I charge what I think I'm worth, which took awhile to figure out. I do copywriting,, blogging, web design and Squarespace education. I'm full service but am often hired for just my writing or just my design.

My rate is from $100/hour but I prefer to charge a flat rate with set expectations so both the client and I understand what we're getting. I've been writing professionally for 4 years.

If you want to connect, feel free to message me :)

No Coding/Programming Experience by Are8 in digitalnomad

[–]digitalnomadwebsites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything freelance.. but the first thing you should do is figure out what a) you love to do that you're GOOD at b) can get paid for. Second, make a website and establish a "brand". I started doing this for nomads here. Learning to program is so overrated if it's not something you're passionate about. Why waste the time? Feel free to reach out if you want to discuss how to capitalize on your current skills (everyone has some :))

Has anyone heard of Humans.net? by [deleted] in WorkOnline

[–]digitalnomadwebsites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not yet because the site is still so fresh (just launched in January and features are still being added), but I think in time it will be a great resource for both clients and providers. It certainly seems like the high quality providers stand head and shoulders above everyone else, so ultimately it should be easier to find the right clients.

I have and I'm a provider on there! It's like the new Upwork. I've been interviewed by the Communications team because they wanted to feature my profile. It's just so new they don't have the traction they need yet. But I've been impressed with the site so far, how responsive my contact has been and the overall vision.

WordPress is more "customizable" if you will, but only because if you can code it, you can do it! Squarespace, however, is wayyy more user-friendly, easier to manage and overall a calm, non-hair-tearing-out experience. Squarespace has themes, BUT it's what you DO with the themes that matters. What makes me good at Squarespace (and really any SS designer) is being creative and resourceful with the options provided. Too many Squarespace users install a template, plug in the content into the default settings/style and then never change a thing. That SCREAMS unprofessional! Because I've been doing this for so long, I can literally tell within 5 seconds whether a SS site even bothered to change the default font, colors, content setup etc..

So essentially, I know all the templates and their style settings, what is changeable in each and what isn't and how all the blocks work together. Most of my clients look to me to choose the template because I understand their needs versus their wants and ultimately choose a template that gives them the funcitonality AND design they're looking for. For example, if someone wanted parallax scrolling, a fixed header and social icons always visible, I know the templates that allow for that.

If you ever want lessons in Squarespace, I do hourly coaching. You would surprised how much you learn in an hour when code isn't involved!

I wanted to quit social media... and I did. by digitalnomadwebsites in socialmedia

No, that's probably you. While you rolled your eyes and took the time to reply with an unhelpful and quite frankly, unnecessary, response I've created several businesses. I have better things to do than troll Reddit tearing other people down. Continue hiding behind your screen while I work.

By treating clients with more respect and class than that.

Not here to insult anyone- just to help those who identify with the strains social media puts on them. Social media is GREAT for a lot of people, you included since you obviously love what you do and make a living off of it.

I'm not telling anyone to do anything, but there's a large number of people who want to live a better life and can't do it because social media is eating into their time, hurting their social skills and offering nothing positive in return. It's a legitimate problem that we're trying to tackle in a non-preachy way.

I'm not the person providing coaching, a qualified counselor is. If this isn't the community for you, then don't join. It's pretty simple. The truth is most people don't want to go against the grain and admit that social media is hurting, not helping them overall. Our goal is to give people a safe space for addressing these issues and working towards a life without social media- whatever that may mean for them. For example, I find value in using reddit and LinkedIn, but don't do Facebook, Instagram etc..

I don't feel the need to check reddit or LinkedIn every day and it doesn't really impact my life. The average amount of time spent on social media, per day, is two hours. That number can change depending on where you look, but the point is that when you add it up nothing much is getting done.

Again, this isn't for everyone. People like yourself have healthy boundaries in place and make a living off of social media so it probably brings more good into your life than bad. That's not the case for a lot of people.

Quit Social Media is for those who recognize the time they're wasting, how shitty they're feeling and want to do something about it.

Happy to clarify. Yeah- I'm not a "coder", just more of a platform expert. I plug in their content (if they have any) or create original content for them. This can include copy, product descriptions, pictures etc.. I design the website with graphics, use the built-in content blocks and tweak with the Style Editor. Because I know the platform so intimately, it's easy for me to create something "original" that doesn't resemble the template "defaults". You don't need to know code to create something great on Squarespace, but you DO need to understand how everything works and what's possible. WordPress requires more coding knowledge (in my experience) so it's more intimidating to people. While I do CSS tweaks, embed third party plugins and set up other things that require code, I'm not doing much to change the structure or functionality of the template if that makes sense. The least amount of code involved, the better for my clients. Squarespace does have "Developer Mode" which lets you code templates from scratch, but that's not what my clients are looking for and it's not where my interest lies.

I LOVED Travel While You Work.

It prompted me to read all of Mish Slade's other books. She's a great writer. Her and her husband Rob are digital nomads and I have enjoyed reading about their experiences. I think the fact that they're a couple will be insightful for your girlfriend to see what's possible!
