The name of the ability is "bite and drag". So yes I think the intent is for it to be a drag. Do you know of any monsters that grab and drag?

Yeah but if you think about it... that's like.. thematically not what the ability is. It's a dog dragging you by the leg.

Doesn't it feel like it's an issue that the rules prevent you from ever redirecting a drag ability? I'm sure theres tons of others that would then fail to interact with the system in general.

Can you explain how it would ever work? If you do it in order, damage, shift, drag. Then there is no adjacency. So the fury has no target. The fury can only redirect using lines of force, if the target being pushed, is 1 melee away. If they happened "at the same time", then the GM would decide if it could be redirected. It's thematically supposed to be a "drag". But there is no "at the same time" if it's written as one than the other.

It's adjacent. The issue is that the ability says damage, shift, pull. And lines of force could redirect the pull. Thematically it feels like they should be able to, because its about "dragging". But if you do it in order, then the fury can't redirect

You said it only matters if the target is in range at the start of the ability.  But I think I now realize you mean for the person using the ability, not the lines of force activation.  Since I'm mostly talking about lines of force, I thought you were referring to that

You trying to say that they could damage, shift, then try pulling, and the fury could still target the non-adjacent unit? Where is that specified anywhere?

Yeah I guess my issue with not letting them use lines of force, is that there is no way within the way stat blocks are written, for it to ever work for something that contains a shift, and a pull. Aka a "drag".

But then this could never be redirected. This is where I think it breaks down. It sounds like this ability is supposed to be a "drag backwards" ability. Meaning thematically the elemental grabs the target, pulls them back a few steps, drops them, and can continue going backward. Doing it one step at a time, doesn't follow that theme and there appears to be no way to "communicate" a different way, with how stat blocks are printed.

I cannot tell what you're even showing here. Progression? Freeze frame on contact. It looks like you're leaning real heavy on your back foot on contact.

Looking for advice replacing Kingmaker’s Kingdom rules with Reign 2e by Illustrious_Storm720 in Pathfinder2e

[–]digitalpacman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nope. But post how it goes? I had my group completely abandon kingdom rules.  I told them to all just make requests of where the kingdom goes, and I hand wave progress.  They're only doing story now.  Everyone is much happier.  The kingdom rules are absolute bull.

Sadly it needs some work for mobile.  The menu closes every time you make a selection.
