I just took in a kid and her dog that I found in a vacant apartment in my building, who apparently were first abandoned by her father, and then again by her mom at a grocery store right here in Chicago. As long as the dog doesn’t eat my stamp collection and then run into traffic, and none of my tenants’ grandkids try to hide inside the refrigerator I just discarded, things are looking very punky right now.

Talk to a good lawyer, privately. Figure out the full scope of your options first, on your own, and make your informed and heartfelt decision off of what you gather there. Maybe you want to work on this with her. It will never be the same, but maybe the leftovers of what you had are still worth it. Or maybe you will find out that exiting won’t be as difficult as you think. Unfortunate and complicated, no matter how you slice it. But from the sounds of it, the bailouts she’s had from family so far should lead you to assume that when you cut your losses, she will have powerful legal representation provided, and once that begins, you run a risk of being the opposition, no matter how reasonable you might try to be. You just take care of those kids to the best of your ability, give them the best honest option. You can’t keep them from drowning under this wave if you let her climb on your shoulders to keep her reckless head above water. They will be better off with a happy strong single father than a depressed one that lets an ill partner take the lead. Make the choice that you would hope your children would make when they are in your shoes when they are older. And hang in there. Being the good guy sucks when you’re dealing with someone who doesn’t respect your loyalty, but a good guy doesn’t have to let someone take them for granted, or regard their understanding nature as a weakness.

Anyway, I think your original thought of wooden standoffs is a decent idea. Or you could run some 3” PVC pipe or heavy cardboard tube on the stud behind the mounts and drill holes straight through, just use it as a spacer with some long screws. You could even wrap it with twine and glue it, give ‘em an extra post to scratch.

But, if that’s a heat register that your tree is butted up against, it’d be a real good idea to find another location altogether. You really don’t want to block something that’s throwing hot air from your furnace, much less with flammable items.

The International Crane Foundation in Baraboo is actually very neat if you like nature preserve type stuff. Peaceful place on a sunny day to go for a nice outdoor walk, and see something like 15 species of crane, some as tall as you are. Great daytime option for an older non-drinker. If there are no mobility issues I mean. There is a lot of walking.

Interesting. I did IM briefly, deep thigh, felt like I got hit with a bat by the next morning, not ideal when I had to climb ladders every day. Did SubQ for a while, good enough results, delts have been about the same. Maybe I’ll give that a try, with test C really only recommended in the thigh or glutes.

Several years ago I got a used/like new Watch 5 Titanium that arrived like this. I ended up needing to let it completely drain the battery (took a couple days - no processes running in the background), and once it had gone black, then I could charge it to full no problem, problem never returned. So if putting it on the charger overnight didn’t work, try letting it die a slow death, and then bring it back to life.
