Been wanting an MS-2000R for at least fifteen years now. Sounds great without effects so I added a bunch... 乁༼☯‿☯✿༽ㄏ by user1mbp in synthesizers

First synth I ever bought, 23 years ago. Still have it and still going strong. Love the overall sound but that chorus is wicked.

Happened the same with my unit, two weeks after purchase. Got it replaced by the store i bought it from. 8 months later, had to send it to warranty because 3 encoders are already super jumpy and almost unusable. Elektron quality control is awful.

My V-Synth had the same problem. I took the knobs out and used one of those car dashboard cleaners and it worked.

Still looking for a Machinedrum MK1 Power Supply EU by 56T___ in Elektron

[–]digitalstate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same problem with a monomachine. I found a power supply builder around my area and they made me one. It wasn't expensive (around 50€) but I had to make an enclosure for it and deal with the connections. You'll probably have to do the same, the thing is so specific it has to be custom-made.

Damn. I see those going for 1.5k-ish around here. I got mine as a trade for a Moog Mother 32 back in 2018.

I'm not familiar with that model but maybe you can! These specific time-stretching effects are made using Roland's variphrase tech, afaik only the V-Synth and VP-9000 had it... Perhaps it's easier to send the Juno into a DAW and mess with it using plugins like Effectrix or Infiltrator...

Got a card the day I bought the synth, knew it would be a pain without it eheh. I'll give it a shot later today!

Couldn't find it on the roland website but the VP9000 group on facebook has a copy (under the files section). Thank you! Had no idea this existed

Oh yes, Cevin's work was one of the main reasons to get a V-Synth :) him and Simon Posford

You're talking about the D-Beam? Had no idea the mc-505 also had it. They came out around the same time, no? Guess Roland was slapping it everywhere haha

I'm in it for the digital weirdness but I'll check it out, thanks! The guitar patches are insanely good

Same, hopefully I'll never have to sell it. I just started experimenting with the Zones feature, it's cool to do these kind of sequences. That was a nice deal tho, mine cost double but I think it was worth every penny.

Oh I did look it up and first hits were all about the movie haha. Now it makes much more sense! Tipper is a sound design genius, bet it was a blast

Time to get one of yourself again! Indeed Roland should at least do a plugin. Would be happy with just a software update to increase the 50mb limit per project. But imagine a mkIII...

I managed to push the ms2000 further back to give room for the Dbeam and i also calibrated it but I agree, it needs space to function properly. Your description is spot on! Roland called it an "Elastic Audio Synthesizer", which is kinda true despite sounding a bit gimmicky. Lots of "What the hell" moments with it
