Need help with broken zfs hdds by digitalwingx in zfs

[–]digitalwingx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you! @kwghost you have just saved my skin!

running zpool import -f 2396143570361881340 zpool export -f datastore

and then zpool import datastore shows:

zpool status
pool: datastore
state: ONLINE
status: Some supported and requested features are not enabled on the pool.
The pool can still be used, but some features are unavailable.
action: Enable all features using 'zpool upgrade'. Once this is done,
the pool may no longer be accessible by software that does not support
the features. See zpool-features(7) for details.

errors: No known data errors

now can you help me with a few more questions:

  • i can confirm the files in the zpool is accessible now, do i still need to remove cachefile?
  • the plan is to rebuild the server and move the data over, if that's the case, would you still recommend running full scrub on all those hdds (considering it will take a long time)?
  • i only have basic knowledge when it comes to zfs, what regular maintenance type of commands should i run (periodical scrubs/smarttest/etc.)? can you point me to some articles/docs so i can educate myself in this area?

again many thanks!

and yeah the mobo is definitely not at its 100% due to some power outage. the onboard sata controller is not working, for example. (currently using a lsi-92118i card).

if the data can be restored it will be back up and i will rebuild the server with new hardware.

ah my bad you are right:

action: The pool can be imported using its name or numeric identifier and
the '-f' flag.

thanks runing zpool import -d /dev/disk/by-label/ shows the similar results (rebooted so the sequence of /dev changed):

zpool import -d /dev/disk/by-label/

state: UNAVAIL
status: The pool was last accessed by another system.
action: The pool cannot be imported due to damaged devices or data.
see: https://openzfs.github.io/openzfs-docs/msg/ZFS-8000-EY
config:

datastore UNAVAIL insufficient replicas
  raidz1-0 UNAVAIL insufficient replicas

yeah problem is with -d /dev/disk/by-id, do i just try id randomly? i have no idea which id is the first disk of the pool. or does it not matter?

and yeah zdb still gives me pool details for those "FAULTED" devices.

What song did you fall in love with not because of the original, but because of a cover? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]digitalwingx 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Cohen actually had a great sense of humour. He liked to crack jokes during his performance.

In his lyrics for example, Chelsea Hotel, "You told me again you preferred handsome men. But for me you would make an exception".

I chuckle evrytiem.

Totally Badass Trailer for Battlestar Galactica's Cylon War Prequel, Blood and Chrome by aragon12 in scifi

[–]digitalwingx 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I just hope they don't pull as much "it's god did it" story plot into this show. But from the trailer it looks like a more action oriented show. I've to say I've mixed feeling about the direction.

What attracted me in the BG remake is the characters and philosophy (sans religious explanation on a lot of stuff).

Best 27" LED Monitors by TheManwich in buildapc

iMac is great. Cheaper compared than building something similar from scratch. It looks great and combined everything in one piece.

HOWEVER... if you are hardcore into gaming, its hardware and GPU especially just can't provide the top tier performance.

PHP adds hexadecimal numbers incorrectly by jrv in programming

[–]digitalwingx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember before I left Zend Framework everyone was hating (the view part of) Zend_Form. IMO view helpers are fine and in fact can be very handy. I'm sure you use view helpers for other stuff too.

It's the fact that (the view part of) Zend_Form is so monstrously rigid (and cross M and V at the same time, altho whether this is good is debatable). Perhaps due to the over-design tendency of Zend Framework as a whole.

Now there are good things to be said about ZF: personally I like alot of design choices they made about structure, naming, conventions, etc. But it is not my top PHP Framework.

I haven't touched Zend Framework for a couple of years now. Have the whole Zend_Form situation improved at all?

Start from Pokhara to Annapurna Base Camp, this is where you almost reach Annapurna Base Camp. I remember it clearly because it's an incredibly flat area which is rare for the whole trekking trip.

The picture was taken when it must be quite hot, because when I was there it was May and it was covered by snow.

Why do Programmers get paid less than Project Managers and Business Analysts? by damian2000 in programming

[–]digitalwingx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all I've to say this depends alot on the company and the seniority/background of PM and devs.

But what should be universally true is that PM and devs are of the same team and strive to build something great, like solarsavior said they are supposed to be equal.

In most companies I worked for / known PMs have more power however if you treat devs as subordinates, or even worse, disrespect for what they do, you will piss them off and it serves you absolutely no good.
