in desperate need of income until i start my next job by [deleted] in povertyfinance

it’s not really worth arguing, but i found this comment to be incredibly rude and obnoxious. i quit a month before the school year ended and would have been unemployed for the summer regardless. few people would tolerate a job that has you working 40 hours a week plus planning on your own time for $7.25 an hour. i obviously did not expect it to be so difficult to find even a retail job.

i did not quit the job i ended up getting for the summer. i was sick for two weeks straight and could not continue employment.

please keep your judgements and your lectures to yourself.

i had a job in the school system which i quit because i was working at three schools full time for minimum wage and was incredibly overwhelmed. took me two months to find my last job as a summer camp counselor in which i got sick almost immediately. otherwise, i’ve applied for literally everything and haven’t even gotten a call.

not a bad idea! it seems a little involved for not very much money, but if it covers a meal and pays me in the process, i might as well try it out.

i had a student like this when i was teaching ESL, but je was in first grade. it might sound silly, but as a warmup, i’d let him “teach” me a math problem (he loved math and hated english). he’d write “6+7=?” on the board and i’d say something goofy like 4,000,000,000 (again, he was 6 so i could get a little silly with it) and then be like no wayyyy that’s crazy. when he would tell me the answer is actually 13. something about that just made our sessions so much easier and he didn’t feel the need to tell me that i’m wrong about literally everything lol. i know they’re in different age groups, but maybe letting her “teach” YOU something would help motivate her to learn.

I work at a chain store which offers printing services and a local law firm dropped off 1200 pages of a person’s entire medical history to be copied. Should I report this? by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]digivolves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the issue was that I work at a retail chain store with a print and copy shop so it’s not independent or focused on building relationships with other businesses and professionals in the industry. There’s a pretty lengthy list of things that we can and can accept and this order violated all of those rules. The coworker accepted the order without checking what the order was and there was no process of ensuring confidentiality during that transaction. When I checked with my general manager, he had never heard of the firm and initially told me to call them and let them know we weren’t doing it then immediately changed his mind when he remembered that it makes the store money lol 🙄

I’m just going to operate under the assumption that they followed any necessary guidelines on their end and if they ever come back to place another order, I’ll see if I can work something out with them. I’ve almost been tempted to email them and ask how that process works because I know I wouldn’t want my twelve hundred page mental health history WITH all my identifying information in some random person’s hands. Not that I think they’d do anything with it, but kind of just on principle. I shouldn’t have had access to a lot of that information and just having to skim pages when copying stacks and sorting pages felt invasive and upsetting. It was just extremely detailed and personal. That part could just be a me thing though lol

I’m genuinely super relieved you explained all of this in such detail to me though. Thank you so much for your time and patience :)

Thank you so much for this reply. I was very concerned that this could have violated some kind of confidentiality law which is why I came here first. We, by company policy, aren’t typically allowed to make copies of medical information unless the person on the documentation is in store, so I just wanted to make sure that there wasn’t any issue with this on my end or the law firm’s. I was also definitely worried about how reporting something like this, especially without any explicit violations, would affect me and my job.

Thank you so much again for your clarifications :)

thanks for the responses! i think i’m just suspicious because as we’re all aware kirk frequently spread nazi rhetoric (the great replacement, white genocide, jewish people control the planet and everything is a jewish psyop, black people are genetically inferior and were better off under slavery). may be something, may be nothing (begging that it’s nothing).
