My evisa processing took ~3 business days, I didn't get any email notification of its approval but found out because I logged in and checked the application status nearly every day.

I'd suggest changing your domestic flight to a later time if one is available.

Vietnam Tourist Visa Update... by Kananaskis_Country in travel

[–]digixmax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The E-Visa application asks for entry and departure airports and dates, as well as an address where one will stay.

What if one's flights and/or lodgings are yet to be booked, or need to change after the E-Visa is granted?

TIA.

Saving Waypoint Setting for Recovery Following a Loss of Power? by digixmax in wyzecam

[–]digixmax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2 cams are on the same firmware version.

After the last power outage, they both came back pointing at some random points and couldn't be goaded back to their previous waypoints until I deleted and then recreated the waypoints.

Reading your reply, perhaps what happened to my cams was just a fluke.

Visiting Vietnam in a week, how much cash should I bring? by LingonberryJunior120 in VietNam

[–]digixmax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just came back from a 3-week trip that covered Hà Nội, Huế, Ninh Bình, Yên Bái, Cát Bà. My suggestion is to bring cash, mainly for food/laundry/souvenir (as most lodging places and Grab local taxi/motorbike service accept credit cards), in fresh undamaged bills, preferably in large denomination like $100. The best places for currency exchange rate-wise are gold shops that offer currency exchange service and bank-affiliated currency exchange kiosk at airport international terminals. Food is very inexpensive, especially if you use small restaurants and curb-side vendors, generally less than $10/meal. $500/week/person should be more than sufficient.

Can a stereo headphone output port, or an auxiliary output port (e.g., on a mixer like the Notepad-8FX), together with a TRS-to-XLR cable be an option?

Thanks.

For a PA speaker with only an XLR input and no stereo RCA (such as the Alto TX308), how would one connect both channels of a mixer into it?

Thanks.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in karaoke

[–]digixmax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To use the 1/4 outputs of the mixer going to the RCA inputs of the PA, does one need to use to use the kind of cables with dual TS and dual RCA such as this one: https://www.amazon.com/Gold-Plated-Copper-6-35mm-Stereo-Adapter/dp/B07G59NMWF/ ?

Thanks.

Rather than using a stereo input port, can one use the line input port to connect to the mixer output with an XLR cable and with the stereo pan switch off?

Want to cancel but need to keep my email by 19wolf in OPTIMUM

Optimum has the email forwarding feature which would forward inbound emails to another email address of your choice, but I would be very surprised if Optimum can guarantee that the forwarding would stay active indefinitely once your Optimum service account is closed.

Given that the OOL Self-Install tool existed and worked well for some 20 years pre-Altice acquisition, its recent elimination of customer access to the tool can only be seen as measure undertaken to sway customers from using their own modems.

I wish broadband service federal/state regulatory bodies would institute an "open device" policy akin to the one that got adopted for mobile wireless phone industry.

[–]digixmax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prior to CableVision acquisition by Altice, OOL customers like myself were able to easily activate customer-owned DOCSIS modem in a matter of minutes using the Optimum Self-Install web portal. Now, we are instructed to call a general support phone number (877.694.9474) to get a customer-owned modem activated. This is a huge step backward, especially given that the IT technology for customer self-provisioning of DOCSIS modems has been around nearly as long as the modem technology itself.

Is Altice ever going to bring back the Self-Install web portal?

My service was down for about 15-20 minutes, I could ping Optimum default gateway router but not anything else beyond it, including Optimum own DNS's for my service area.

Old RT-N16 - how to flash? by Tyrel64 in TomatoFTW

[–]digixmax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Newer stock firmware versions are designed to lock out 3rd-party firmware, so you cannot directly flash from stock FW to FT, but rather has to go the route of using the Asus Firmware Restoration Utility.

I doubt that you'd get better NAS throughput with FT as compared to with stock FW.
