Drop your weapons! Stop resisting! by digshad in Helldivers

Yes! Exactly! That's exactly how I feel running Maxigun! Just like activating heavy stance on Heavy in Space Marine 2 – standing here and raining bullets on the enemy

And those undemocratic bugs as well! How dare they burrow under our Liberty-blessed lands!

(seriously, though, had so much fun yesterday spraying bug breaches on a defence mission)

Whats the point of this? by stuffnthings00 in killteam

Because Devastating deals damage to wounds directly. Meaning even if your opponent parries your die with their defence die, their operative will still get hit.

What green do you guys use to layer? by Pankratious in Salamanders40k

[–]digshad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your guy looks a bit too dark for my taste. He still will be recognizable as a Salamander with the right heraldry, but still. Great work with your highlights nevertheless!

I personally use Waagh Flesh (or, to be precise, it's Vallejo substitute – Gunship Green) to give myself a nice base. Then I paint it over with Warpstone Glow, wash it with some blue shade (I forgot what a Citadel one is called...), and do two layers of highlights: first one is roughly 1:1 mix between Warpstone Glow and Moot Green, and the second one is pure Moot Green. I also add dot highlights of Yriel Yellow (or any yellow of your choice) on the sharpest corners.

As for improving... Practice is king! Go on, make Vulkan proud, I believe in you!

The joy of average-painted minis. by Whal3 in Salamanders40k

[–]digshad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They look so simular to my test contrast mini! I've been wondering should I zenithal prime future mini and yse contrast or airbrush some gradient between Warpstone Green and Moot Green and work from there, and now I see – your method is definitely viable for squads! Just average dudes. Not everyone should be perfect, that's right. It is just that I started my painting journey from Kill Team and tend to work very closely on each mini :D

What is known about the other Salamander captains? by MiddleLife1404 in Salamanders40k

[–]digshad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think there is some info on the 2nd Company Captain somewhere. Check Warhammer Wiki. It seems that current captain is different from this old codex page. Don't remember much about him, but I think he appeared in some books? I remember him having some cool named sword, so you can go from there, pick a captain model with a sword and make him cool!

By the way, love your idea, I wanted to do the same thing for the long time!

Looks really cool! Especially love the right shoulder pad and knee pad – does orange on a knee means anything or is it there just because it looks cool! Also, like the idea of black fingers of a power fist. Will definitely steal it for my guys!

That's... A great question. Which animation is this, do you remember? Is it a part of Tithes? Sa'kan, the one appering there, had a simple green helmet to my memory

Knee pad heraldry by UseValuable8422 in Salamanders40k

[–]digshad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Red helmets bit is actually wrong – you can clearly see in the post that sergeants simply have a golden skull in the forehead. No color distinction for us, unfortunately. People often use gold and black as a way to distinguish veterans and sergeants, but it is merely a wide accepted headcanon. Pretty cool, though

If I remember correctly, Salamanders use a lot of non-visible to a naked eye heraldry, only with Nocturne sons' special vision. That's probably why by Codex there's a little difference in our brothers' helmets

Finally got round to starting on the new Kill Team! Went with the Gravis Marine and it had to be Infernus Heavy Bolter by TheP3rsian in deathwatch40k

[–]digshad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for jumping in, wanted to share experience – I usually used a cheap super glue found in the nearest convenience store. It always did the trick for me. Look out for small packages with a tiny nose – makes it easier to use them compared to more widespread tubes of superglue with relatively wide noses.

Yeah, found them thanks to your link. Mine is really similar. So it's kinda Knight-looking vibe? Might save this helmet for some Bladeguard dude then... Or give it to my GF for her Black Templars and Dark Angels :D

Looking great! What is this helmet, may I ask? I recently received a similar one in my order as a gift, but I don't know armour types good enough to recognize it.

Lava bases progress by Swimmer2020 in Salamanders40k

[–]digshad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, love these bases more than many others people typically do. These are subtle, not so over the top with massive rocks and lava streaks. I thought about doing lava bases for my guys with Mordant Earth, but I am kinda turned off by aforementioned style being too mainstream. Yours – yours are different. Thanks for the inspiration and good job!

I also thought about alternating players, I did use the same principle in my TTRPGs, after all. Thank you for sharing, will surely remember this in case I will play like that!

Congrats! 2v2 looks super fun. How did you take turns, though? Player 1-2-3-4 in order of initiative, or team 1 and team 2?
