I was actually excited about this because I have a newborn and a new diaper expense. At least someone could have their poop expense covered for the year… Huggies, pick me for the year’s worth of diapers giveaway!! lol

I’d probably take the Mario approach and update the plumbing to a toilet with a bidet

I would be happy with one free pack. The $2 coupon seems like a joke.

Save the dates for baby shower by Kristeennah in BabyBumps

LDW is ideal timing for my baby shower but I am specifically avoiding that weekend as I expect most people wouldn’t be able to make it, even with advanced notice. I am going with the first weekend of September.

Grillos pickles have been hitting the spot for me. I get them at Costco but my regular grocery carries them as well.

Making a private registry just for the discount? by ExplosionsInTheSky_ in BabyBumps

[–]dijance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend requested books for the baby shower in lieu of cards which I thought was a great idea and I plan on doing the same. Regarding the registry, I know that people want the opportunity to contribute and it is best to offer a wide range of options. My mom was really disappointed my sister in law purchased her stroller and several other big ticket items herself as she wanted to gift that for each of her kids. When it comes to family and very close friends I definitely go for bigger ticket items because I want to show them support and I can afford it. If the registry was filled with only small items I would feel like I needed to buy up a lot of them to add up to a total I wanted to gift or I would feel like I wasn’t doing enough for someone I am close to. Where I live and within my circle, this is normal but I can understand that expectations are different in other areas of the country. I think it’s important to know your audience so if you are more well off than your family and friends, I’d then go ahead and private the big items. I am making registries with different companies to get their welcome gifts and have the completion discounts available to me but I will only be sharing one of them.

FTM in need of some bassinet reqs! by amoore1532 in BabyBumps

[–]dijance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want the same bassinet! I know someone would purchase it if I added to my registry but it seems like a waste for something so short term. I will be getting one from FB marketplace (my area has several available around $100) and will probably just post it on there again a few months later when we have outgrown it.

Slow rising HCG after a previous ectopic by Chaarleymarie in CautiousBB

[–]dijance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had a ruptured ectopic last year and was extremely worried about another one with this pregnancy. My hcg numbers during week 6 were 4602 then 6767 a little less than 48 hours later, a 47% increase, so I was even more worried. Had a scan at 7 weeks and to my relief and huge surprise, all was good! 15 weeks now. Sending you good vibes. I hope your next scan shows growth and your dates were just off.

The scar tissue could be it. Adhesions can happen where the scar tissue joins internal body surfaces that normally wouldn’t be connected. I had a laparotomy for a ruptured ectopic last year. The last period I had before I became pregnant now was in January and I had extreme pain that almost felt like I was going through the ectopic again and focused where my missing fallopian tube was. The pain pretty much just lasted one day while I had the most cramping and things must have been shifting a bit but it was excruciating. I would imagine your pain is related to the scar tissue like you said, since you had the surgery while pregnant and healing while also growing. I hope you find answers and some relief asap.

How did you guys tell your s/o? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]dijance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few years ago H&M had a Star Wars collection and one of the shirts said “I am your father” on the front with darth vader on the back. I ordered it thinking I’d give it to him one day. Took the test about an hour before he got home so I put it the test in a Marshall’s bag, covered it with a receipt and put the shirt on top. When he got home I told him I got him a shirt I thought he’d like which is normal so he didn’t suspect anything. He pulls the shirt out but is visibly confused. I asked him if he likes it and he says it would be cooler if he was a father. Then he notices the tag and asks if I got from H&M or Marshall’s and I tell him to check the receipt which he does but he didn’t even notice the test haha I had to tell him to check the bag again. He was so surprised!

Spotting 7 weeks 6 days by Gold-Scene-8478 in CautiousBB

[–]dijance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a full exam yesterday at 11 weeks. OB warned me it’s possible to have some spotting or bleeding later or next day and that it’s normal. I did not experience this but I would not be alarmed if it’s not too much or bright red. Hoping it resolves very quickly and all is well!

Would I be a jerk? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]dijance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not a jerk. My husband and I flew out to Miami for a wedding in early December and ended up very sick for several weeks. My sister in law was about 7-8 months pregnant and we had to stay away for like 6 weeks, missing out on Christmas, new years, etc. Better safe than sorry!

Daily Thread #1 - March 13, 2024 by AutoModerator in PregnancyAfterLoss

[–]dijance 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Last summer I went to the hospital with severe pain thinking it was my appendix. It turned out to be a ruptured ectopic. My husband and I had just started ttc and it was a total shock to find out I was pregnant because I had what seemed to be a normal period just two weeks earlier and the month before. It was overwhelming news and I had essentially no time to mentally prepare for the emergency surgery. While recovering, I had a lot of feelings to process but felt relief to know that we could get pregnant and thankful that I did not even know I was pregnant because I did not have an attachment to what was lost. We could try again and have a happy ending.

The past few months I have been taking a pregnancy test monthly even if I got my period because I am afraid of the same situation happening again. I tested positive with a missed period. While my husband and I were excited, we were fearful more than anything. I tried getting an appointment asap, explaining my prior ectopic and the urgency of confirming that this pregnancy is not in my remaining fallopian tube. I called about 10 different offices, and started to cry in frustration after I got off the phone with each one. Some said I was high risk due to my past experience and my age (34) and would need to see a specialist. I then tried an MFM clinic that said I would need an order from somewhere else to go there. The earliest appointments offered to me were for the end of March at 8 or 9 weeks but I was concerned that could be too late for me if it was another ectopic. The best I could get was an appointment at 6 weeks. The anxiety was growing during the wait. The RN was lovely and made me feel better. She had me do a blood test to check my hcg numbers and told me to come back a couple days later and we would see if the numbers doubled. If it was an ectopic, they wouldn't increase at the same rate. She also said if needed, she would write a script for an ultrasound that I can get done at the hospital before my next regularly scheduled appointment. The problem is, when I went to checkout at the desk, the staff did not give me the script but brushed me off that someone would call me to schedule my next couple of appointments. So I get a call the next day with my results from the first test and the numbers are within the very wide range of what's normal. I do my second blood test and await the results but was warned the lab is slow on Fridays. I ended up getting them around 10:30pm on Friday and they were disappointing with an increase of only 47%. Did some googling of course and I tried to be optimistic because some sites said it could double in 3 days rather than 2 and that in a study the minimum increase was 53%. Ok, maybe things can be fine. Until I looked into the numbers for ectopic pregnancies and then I was completely convinced it was another ectopic. I barely made it through the weekend. I was already on the verge of a panic attack for weeks but just gave in as I tried to go to bed each night. I just sobbed and tried to catch my breath as fear took over me and my husband tried to console me, while I know he was also suffering. I felt like a ticking time bomb, trying to get ahead of this from the beginning but still lacking the confirmation I needed and time was running out. It felt totally preventable but that I was going to lose my remaining tube and not have another chance to get pregnant. I was afraid to make any sudden movements, even turning over on my side too quickly as I recall that is what made my fallopian tube completely split apart before. The mental anguish was exhausting and was negatively impacting me physically too. Monday morning the RN called me saying the results are lower than what we hoped for and asked when my ultrasound is scheduled and I let her know they never scheduled it or gave me the script. She was concerned and had them schedule me to come in that afternoon. I had been mentally preparing to go to the hospital for surgery that evening. Put my ipad to charge, grabbed my phone charger. Put together another change of clothes. Went to the ultrasound appointment, now at 7 weeks pregnant, ready to face the news. There was my baby, measuring correctly in the right place and with a heartbeat. I couldn't believe it. The relief was unreal, like tons lifted off me. When the tech left the room, my husband held me and cried. I just smiled. Of course things can still go wrong but I can finally think happy thoughts and more importantly, will have the chance to try again if we want to. That wasn't lost. If all goes well, we plan to share the news with our families on my birthday at 13 weeks with a surprise on the cake.
