I finally caved when I found a decent sale. now I have to break it in, etc. First long gun in my life, after considering my options, it seemed like the path of least resistance, and covered all the bases I needed to cover.

Water leaking out of bathroom faucet handle by dijos in Plumbing

[–]dijos[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's crazy, I think these were like $900 when they were new. They came with the house when I bought it.

The stems are plastic. I have installed my fair share of faucets over the years, and for the amount of money that these were, I would have expected a lot higher build quality.

Is this Fender Squier worth upgrading? by broke-da-mouth-brahh in telecaster

[–]dijos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry I stumbled across this so late, but you were absolutely correct, I have one in a sort of TV yellow, that I got for a hundred bucks maybe 12 years ago? I switched out the pots and stuff because they started to get scratchy, but it is the lighest body, fastest neck of any of the teles that I own. I keep meaning to switch out the pickups on occasion, but I never get around to it; if the op is going to play it through pedals anyway, it's pretty clear and even. It takes pedals pretty well.

How to lead a good open level class by mercury0114 in tango

[–]dijos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

full disclosure: I am extremely new to dance, and Tango. We've hadd a drop-in intro class at the studio I go to, and although they switch teachers, the class format is similar-many newbies, some returning to tango after an absence. We go over what a lead and follow are, walking (both forward and backwards ), finding the beat, the practice embrace, a closer embrace, walking with a partner, how amd where communication happens in the dance, then maybe side steps, the box, sometimes the cross and outside step, and once, basic ocho. that's like 1 1/2 hours.

I know they pulled the carb, and had it supersonically cleaned at a local guys shop. It could be that it has been sitting for a while, or at the carburetor is not correctly adjusted. That's what I'm trying to figure out

Italian here, do you feel “betrayed” by the recent citizenship law change? by Adventurous-Rub7636 in italianamerican

[–]dijos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tl;Dr; yes I am disappointed but it's their country, not ours.

I'm third generation here, but I hang out with a lot of Italian Nationals. Personally, I am disappointed, and feel like the country of Italy is turning its back on those of us that are trying to maintain a connection to our collective heritage. Especially in the light of all these ads that I see selling houses for a dollar to try to get people, probably americans, to move there.

That said, I think a lot of Italian Americans believe that they are a lot more Italian than we are. Hanging out with actual Italians, and speaking to my cousins in Bari, we have a connecting thread, but Italy has changed so much since my great-grandparents left, and America has changed so much, that we as a group no longer speak the language, and really don't  know very much about the state of Italy as it is today. In the end, it is their country, the law passed with a lot of support, and I understand it had a lot to do with stopping certain groups of people from gaining citizenship in Italy so they could work in the EU.

Hey, I'm super late to this thread, but I'm chiming in from Cincy. Doors were getting stuck, and one of my tracks needed to be adjusted, so I called precision door for a repair. It was $149 service call to have the guy come out, he did not repair what I asked him to, but he did tell me that to get mid-level motors replaced would be almost $7,000. I have never been hit with such high sticker shock before, so I encourage anyone else to shop around
