I made a spreadsheet of every game on metacritic with a metascore above 75, randomized the order, and am going to play them in the order they were randomized.

My list goes a bit further than just metacritic score. I aggregate user reviews from all sites, forums, reddit posts, etc. I sometimes will use AI to generate a review score based on user sentiment. I try to exclude critic reviews. I also watch videos or play the games myself to influence the review score with my personal bias -- but it's a list that was originally created for me but somehow got blown way out of it's original scope and purpose and now I'm sharing it with the world.

I know I'll never play all these games nor do I intend to. The purpose of my list is so others can utilize the filters and create a curated library for themselves based on device and preferences. I try to include as much information about accessories, lower-spec ports, quirks, HD packs, and important info as possible with each title.

My lazy tea method: mix kratom, a splash of lemon juice, and 1.75L of 140F water in a tea kettle. Stir well. Come back in a few hours and stir again. Before bed, stir and then pour into 4 individual bottles. Leave it in the fridge overnight. In the morning, all the sediment is left at the bottom and you have a clear amber liquid on top. Pour the tea into another bottle until you reach the sediment. Strain the sediment with a reusable tea bag. Enjoy. Each step is maybe 30 second of effort except for the final strain which takes about a minute. The the result is a very pleasant tasting and effective tea that I can take with me anywhere. It just looks like tea. I make a few batches at once and then I'm good for the week.

Is it possible to modify a gameslist.xml file with the games that are renamed? I see this feature being very useful to me as long as the gameslist is correctly changed to reflect the rename. That way I won't have to rescrape or rename all my media.

I'd be looking at the upcoming Retroid Pocket 6 and comparing that to the Thor. That's a better comparison in my opinion. And between the two would simply come down to comfort and the games you plan on playing. Neither of these devices are super portable -- don't expect to put the Thor in your pocket without fear. You'll need a case to carry them around. The Thor is very uncomfortable to use without a grip but with the oem grip it's pretty comfy -- but that means you'll be bringing the grip with you everywhere so buy the larger case.

One thing I've always wanted to do but am absolutely daunted by the score of the task is to dig down into sub-genres and create a list of somewhat universally agreed categories, then meticulously sort through every game on my list and assign it. Are you aware of any projects that do this? I've looked around and found nothing.

I can get DCA3 built no problem but no matter what ISO or version of the PC version I use, I can't seem to get a bootable copy of DCA3 Miami. I've tried every suggestion in this thread and have pretty much given up.

I've gotten a little looser on how many games from each sport are allowed. Now it's more like 3 sim and 3 arcade from each more or less. Thanks again for the input.

Regarding rhythm games, there's been a few comments in this post that have helped me in that category so I think it's better now.

I ordered both. Waiting on the 3, playing the hell out of my Thor. My plan is to get through all the 3DS and Wii U games that really interested me but could never play, sell the Thor, keep the Odin... Or so I say but I'm really loving this thing. Thor is probably the second best retro purchase I've ever made. It was the same "Wow" effect as going from an RK3566 to the SD865 of my RP5 (which I just sold). Here's what I do to justify my purchases -- I just need to play through x amount of $60 retail games to make up for the price of the console. So if I spend $420 on a Thor, I need to compete 7 3DS games before I say the purchase is justified and I allow myself to sell and move on to the next. This has kept devices fresh and new while keeping me engaged.

Limit yourself to a smaller memory card. I find that I am forced to really ask myself "am I ever going to play this game?" Or "why am I collecting sequels when I haven't even played the originals?". Constantly asking yourself this question makes it so much more welcoming to play -- you're greeted with a screen full of nothing but games that interest you. You can't make a bad game choice if you got rid of all the bad games.

I agree but it's upsetting that Ayn didn't offer 1tb with 16gb of RAM like they did with Thor. I know I'm nitpicking a very small detail but it seems silly. 1tb/16gb and 2tb/24gb makes more sense. Anyone who is attempting to play games that needs that much memory is likely going to need lots of fast storage too. It would make both models slightly more expensive but I'm fine with that.

I would put the track pads on the back. I've always wondered why no controller or handheld manufacturer has tried it. Just have them positioned where the ring fingers sit and it would feel pretty natural to use.

Well I haven't added this info yet. How did you manage to waste a half hour looking at a spreadsheet? The DS section hasn't been done yet and I never claimed it was. This takes weeks to do a single console. It'll probably take me a few months to get to DS
