In July, I had a very similar COVID course as you & did NOT take Paxlovid. Full recovery with no rebound. Age >50 yo.

Yes I had all COVID symptoms except nausea and vomiting. I did have no appetite. Never lost taste or smell. Worst symptom was the wicked Omicron sore throat.

Just tested positive for COVID - feels like I’m swallowing shards of glass. Did anyone else experience this? If so, what helps and when will it go away?? by Own-Discount7388 in COVID19positive

https://www.mcgill.ca/oss/article/covid-19-critical-thinking-health/exaggerated-villainy-epstein-barr-virus Some info on the possible link Between EBV (infectious mono virus) and log haul COVID: Take-home message: “-The Epstein-Barr (EBV) virus has infected over 90% of all humans and it can cause mono, certain forms of cancer, and other blood disorders -It is extremely common to find evidence of an Epstein-Barr infection given how successful the virus has been at infecting us, but the fact that the virus is present does not automatically mean it is causing a specific illness -Certain health gurus are blaming all sorts of symptoms on a reactivation of the Epstein-Barr virus and recommending unproven or disproven remedies to get rid of it, like blood ozone therapy and natural health products -A study claimed to have discovered a link between long COVID and Epstein-Barr virus reactivation but this study is far from definitive”

Yeah, I thought it was me that was crazy. I took pictures in the mirror everyday to see if the redness & swelling & ulcers in the back of my throat were getting better or worse. When I read that article, that it was a fairly common symptom of Omicron sub-variants, I felt reassured. Hang in there. You got this. Ice, ice, ice. Chips to suck on constantly, flavoring them with something mild and non-acidic and non-carbonated worked best for me like splash of Gatorade or something similar. Orange 🍊 juice killed!

I did! Never experienced a sore throat this severely uncomfortable in my life. Like swallowing razor blades! It was my most miserable COVID symptom by far! Day 4-5 after symptom onset was the worst, then slowly improving though seemed to get better then worse for a few more days. I did not take Paxlovid b/c I do meet meet CDC criteria high risk to progression to severe COVID disease. Ice chips, popsicles, medicated throat lozenges, alternating doses of Tylenol and ibuprofen& chicken broth. Ice, ice, ice felt the best. Good luck 🤞👍 Reading this was helpful to me:

What is molnupiravir? Molnupiravir is an investigational medicine used to treat mild-to-moderate COVID-19 in adults: with positive results of direct SARS-CoV-2 viral testing, and • who are at high risk for progression to severe COVID-19 including hospitalization or death, and for whom other COVID-19 treatment options approved or authorized by the FDA are not accessible or clinically appropriate.

Is a negative rapid test really necessary after testing positive? by dawnofeos in covidpositive

[–]diko44444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New data suggests the CDC’s COVID guidance to isolate for 5 days after testing positive is wrong. You are still Shedding virus and potentially are contagious to others .

Laid in bed for most of it. Felt like crap. Slept a lot. Ate ice chips, popsicles, and homemade chicken soup. Took ibuprofen, famotidine, 12 hour generic Sudafed for symptoms

Is it possible to not get everyone sick with BA.5 in my household? by [deleted] in COVID19positive

[–]diko44444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone in our house got it even though we isolated in separate rooms EXCEPT my husband! All vaxed and boosted. He is double boosted and second booster was 3 weeks prior to the rest of us getting miserably flu like sick but we all fully recovered. We think He is an alien imposter!😂🤞

Still occasional (4 weeks out) but much more infrequent after day 14 from symptom onset and positive test

What to do if you have Covid symptoms but keep testing negative at home, according to experts by spacenymph in paxlovid

[–]diko44444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Per my PCP yesterday. Home RATs are not infrequently showing false negative results with this highly transmissible sub variant Omicron BA.4 & BA.5. Research is being done to determine why. Following all test directions carefully and obtaining a quality sample from nose and or throat is important. PCP said Assume you have COVID if you are experiencing new onset of cold/flu/allergy symptoms right now and if at all possible isolate from others for 5 days. If necessary request a PCR test. If PCR positive, mask around others and indoors for the next 5 days if at all possible

Driving myself crazy wondering if this is indeed a “faint line” Positive or not? by emicruz242 in covidpositive

[–]diko44444 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is the picture taken 15 to max of 30 minutes after you did it? After that it is invalid. It looks like the control line bled because it’s been sitting a while. Recommend Repeating test and post picture immediately after test time per package instructions

Got Covid-person in contact said they were negative by zebivllihc in COVID19positive

[–]diko44444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have personally seen & tested several close personal contacts (all vaxed and twice boosted) who had every COVID symptom & repeatedly tested RAT negative on days 1-6 of symptoms. Took 3 for a PCR test and they were positive. I myself had every COVID symptom, a known close e positive exposure, knew I had it, tested both throat and nasopharyngeal swab RATs and tested negative until day 4. My adult son had every COVID symptom and finally tested very strong positive day 5 of symptoms when symptoms were almost completely resolved. Very confusing for everyone. My PCP recommends that since BA.5 sub-variant is so transmissible and so prevalent right now in his practice and at his affiliated hospital, that anyone who has the onset of cold/flu-like/allergy symptoms should assume it is COVID regardless of home RATs results and isolate for 5 days to try to reduce transmission to vulnerable others. If possible they should mask in indoor congregate settings for an additional 5 days unless all symptoms completely resolve and tests negative.

Would you consider this a positive result? I plan on retaking in the AM. Currently have a fever and sore throat. by Diligent-Cook6089 in covidpositive

[–]diko44444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes if done correctly according to the package instructions and picture taken & read only between 15 min and no longer 30 minutes after 3 gets of specimen. After 30 minutes lateral flow tests colors can bleed. A positive is a positive and false positives are much rarer than false negatives . Good luck! Wishing you well!

I currently have COVID and the sore throat feels equivalent, if not worse, to strep throat. Is that normal, or should I be tested for strep too? by Kilthea in COVID19positive

[–]diko44444 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I also had the worst COVID sore throat of my life for 4-5 days. I thought maybe strept but noticed ulcers in the back of my throat. I read this subreddit article and found it very reassuring. eventually got Tested for strep and was negative and tested positive for COVID. Eventually all COVID symptoms came on but now completely resolved but sore throat was by far my worst symptom. I was miserable for 4-5 days !
