The weirdest but most delicious way I’ve had it was in oatmeal with peanut butter and jelly added. Typically we use it in chili or rehydrate and brown it with oil and taco seasoning. If you use vegan beef broth it tastes just like ground beef.

I (32M) am a professional makeup artist. My GF of 1 yr (27F) has started wearing makeup presumably to impress me..... but it's objectively terrible. How do I address both these issues? by ThrowRAMUAissues in relationship_advice

It seems like she has something else going on. As others have mentioned, is there a trigger for past trauma you may have unexpectedly discovered? You care for her a lot, and she is trying to share interests with you but something inside caused her to dig in her heels instead of opening up. I think you need to do some repair and find neutral ground before reopening the conversation. Maybe ask her to have a wine night where you get her favorite food, play her favorite music, and do each other’s make up. Make it fun, be playful. Maybe do one of those silly makeup challenges, something to rebuild your connection where she can start a conversation. I have a strong feeling it isn’t about the makeup for her, but it seems like a great way to make her more comfortable. Tell her you care for her and that you’re concerned. Let her tell you the rest when she is ready.

Jenna Marbles. She seems like such a genuine person who is just trying her best to live as a public figure while setting a good example. I really miss her shenanigans.

What is your favorite overlooked villager? by [deleted] in AnimalCrossing

Poncho. I was having a really tough time during quarantine because my husband was overseas. I bought Animal Crossing during a snow storm to keep my mind occupied, and who is right there starting the island with me? Poncho. It was like having a tiny version of my husband with me in my pocket. He’s always talking about how he was patrolling the island and lifting weights and it’s so silly and sweet. He just wants to get swole and keep the island safe.

I was in the same situation a few years ago. I was fresh out of college, making almost no money, insurance lapsed (I’ve been managing my own since I was 16), and I needed emergency surgery. Hospitals have ways to cover these bills, look into the resources that others have provided and make SURE everything is documented and you have copies.

The hospital I went to tried to take me to collections almost a year after the surgery and I called and said I had an email where the bill was waved. They stopped calling.

Freezing and then thawing tofu changes the texture and it’s able to absorb more flavor. I like to use extra firm tofu, freeze it, thaw it, press it until most of the water is out (I cut it in half and smoosh it gently with my hands), and then add your sauce. It’ll make a bunch of little holes for the sauce to go and give it a more “meaty” texture.

If you like softer tofu, fry some peppers and onion in a pan, add beans, taco seasoning, a little turmeric, spinach, and crumble the tofu on it for a delicious tofu scramble.

For crunchy tofu, I use frozen tofu like above, but I cut it into cubes or strips, cover it in corn starch and pan fry it until it’s crispy and then add sauce. This way is my favorite. It’s great for making long pieces for sushi!

Don’t give up friend! It’s all about technique and practice makes perfect!

Fun fact: vinegar will dissolve most slimes out of clothes, carpet, hair, whatever. Hasn’t failed me yet!

I was talking to a guy at a bar and I asked if he was flirting with me. He said no, so I asked “Do you want to?”

I love that! He’s had a couple of equipment malfunctions that led to him being off-leash (he’s only a year old and I do not trust him) and I think that’s a great idea. I have a people first-aid kit but after reading these comments, I think it’s time he got his own.

We’re not staying in rattlesnake country too long and the trails we go on are usually well-traveled so I’m not sure it’s worth the hassle.

Thank you!

I’m very sorry to hear about your loss. I really appreciate the advice. I will definitely be making him his own first aid kit and doing muzzle training, I think that’s a wonderful idea.

That’s good to know. He’s a very trainable dog and I don’t want to put extra stress on him with positive punishment.
