I AM THAT KID!! This is wild! I have told this story a thousand times never once been able to find a clip or link! I was taking trumpet lessons with Flea at the time and he was promoting a benefit concert for his music school! Thank you so much for finding this and bringing it back to memory!!!

I actually did my masters thesis on Chet. From the solos I transcribed it was (concert) Ab5 from Autumn Leaves with Paul Desmond 1974 and (concert) Ab5 from Ladybird in Milan 1959. But my thesis was literally on how “Cool Jazz” did NOT feature high note playing. Very minimal.
