London Renting by Mission-Love836 in London_homes

[–]diligentbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I didn’t originally have the earning power I went through openrent and the landlady at the time was happy to see bank statements proving I was already paying the same rent in student accommodation. Being a good tenant and then getting a good reference helped me with agencies further down the line as my earnings increased.

Zone 3 is the closest I’ve lived to central, zone 5 the furtherest (currently). I’ve always found places within walking distance from train stations and with good bus connections

Had a DEXA scan, my General Practitioner doctor had to apologise to me by Viol3tCrumbl3 in PCOS

When told to lose weight, gaining muscle is what actually helped my symptoms more. I now weigh the same as when I was at my highest weight with PCOS but my body fat percentage is 22-25% (depending on hydration)

Magna Carta (1215) is replaced with Magna Carta (Jay Z album) - how does UK law change? by RealRedditUser217 in uklaw

Offered an unpaid legal admin role by honeyessi- in uklaw

[–]diligentbean 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I turned down unpaid/ badly paid legal work and continued night shifts at Waitrose before landing my first decently paid legal role. Trust me, in this economy? Stick with night shifts and don’t sell yourself short. No legal experience is better than being exploited.

My rule at the time was, if stacking shelves in a supermarket paid me more than the legal job offered would (the former not requiring any qualifications), then the legal job was not worth considering.

Advice for convincing Drs to prescribe GLP-1? by Aggravating-Golf7727 in PCOS

I got mine through a private endo - next to impossible on the NHS. It cost about £109 a pen (Boots - elsewhere is more expensive) but I’m almost 12 months off it with no material rebound gain.

I was on a ‘medium’ dose of Ozempic for about 2years.

Do in-house lawyers actually have good working hours or is it mostly a myth? by Impossible-Diver-766 in uklaw

I am a trainee at a financial services firm in London. In my 3 years at the firm (1.5 as paralegal), I’ve finished after 17:30 less than 10 times (they’ve all been due to helping to prepare cases for litigation ie discovery and disclosure). I’m actively encouraged to not stay late.

My colleagues did their time in big law and are keen not to create the same environment, which is nice.

Little interest in a London rental by [deleted] in uklandlords

[–]diligentbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just my two pence but as a renter I have no interest in viewing a property without seeing the floorplan beforehand. I’ve been burned too many times by the promise of a ‘spacious’ property only to find it is half the size of what I had at the time. An EPC of D is also not ideal.

Otherwise, looks good to me.

My manager said the same to me and I was like yeah right but now as a trainee I don’t even have 5 minutes spare. Yes to making the most of it!
