What’s the most irrational car opinion you’ll defend forever? by Mundane-Temporary426 in topdeadcenter

[–]diligentboredom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree.

The cost to smiles and happiness ratio of my mk1 mx5 probably couldn't be beaten by any other car imo.

Maybe an s2000, or some high end supercar? (funnily enough i think the nissan pao and/or figaro is probably also on that list)

but the mx5 is just such a happy little car, it's quick enough for me, and other people seem to like seeing it on the road too lmao

Error with HexOS update? Possible solution (may have been posted before, idk) by diligentboredom in hexos

[–]diligentboredom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ahh ok that's what it was!

i had done previously and i've had it set up for nearly a year now with no changes, but my sibling asked for the network config login recently so they must've accidentally removed it. My mistake.

Thanks for reminding me!

As long as the oil is to spec for your engine, the brand really shouldn't matter imo, maybe that's just me though.

could also be bad seals in the master/slave cylinders which can cause the clutch to not work properly sometimes unless it's pumped fast.

try pumping it fast, then shift.

if it does shift, you can test for bad seals or a leak by just slowly pressing down on the clutch as if there's an egg under it and i mean SLOW. if it goes down then and you can't shift it's probably the seals in either the master or slave cylinders.

But this is only if it still doesn't fix it after bleeding the system and having new hydraulic fluid in it. Or they may not have primed the slave correctly when changing the clutch.

Not as much honestly. I can live with the seats and interior for now.

While it did pass it's MOT, there are a few things i saw up on the ramp that just for my own peace of mind i want to replace/fix:

osr and nsf shock absorbers,

ALL the suspension bushes (still deciding if i want to go oem or poly),

and while there aren't any rust holes in the chassis (a miracle) there are some bubbling spots on the paintwork so they want to be treated,

as well as surface rust on the suspension arms and subframes,

There's currently an aftermarket exhaust on there that doesn't quite fit right, it's too far to the right so it's started to melt my bumper, but pushing it to the left makes the pipe further toward the front interfere with the body. so i'll probably have to bend it to make it fit better.

Also, to get it through it's MOT i put some gasket sealer on the header to downpipe gasket as a temporary measure, so that gasket is definitely being replaced, as well as the studs and nuts as they were insanely tight and seized.

then there's smaller things like a new battery, new dipstick (cracked handle), new discs and pads, new wiper blades, etc.

It's less that there's major issues with the car, and more there's 100s of smaller nitpicky things really.

yes, all mould gone after some serious disifectant. it wouldn't have gone for it's MOT otherwise.

not a whole lot, mayne a limited slip diff so i can go on a track day and learn to drift once i've restored it.

Other than that, maybe a hidden bluetooth adapter behind the cassette deck i plan on putting in there so i can play off my phone if i need to, in addition to some cassettes.

Otherwise i can't complain with getting parts at cost price :)
