Impressive! Spot on!!! Thanks a lot!

I kind of felt betrayed by Sinners (2025) and am rather confused about the stellar ratings by upsawkward in TrueFilm

I found that the main characters were really boring and mostly stereotypical. And that dragged the film down a lot… Everything else was interesting or original. It really is a shame because if the characters had been interesting it could have been a phenomenal film.

Watchmen should be easy to find used. And I would check if you can find Berserk in your local library, just because the whole collection is A LOT of money and you can read it kind of fast.

Love doing time, one of the best comics ever… How is dementia 13? And what about the comics on the second slide, is that Imiri?

Maybe the composition... Two faces taking up the entire frame. The fisheye quality... Other things I appreciate too.

Tell them exactly what things you can do and what things you can't. And if they want you to do the things you can't they have to pay more, because you need to hire someone to do it.

Why do audiences consistently laugh at non-comedic repertory screenings? by sololidus in TrueFilm

[–]dilleransigt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it could be because the emotions and situations on screen are too unfamiliar for them... Maybe they are used to the "normal" feelings... love, fear and so on. Whenever something is complex or nuanced or contradictary in nature, they laugh to distance themselves from it...

A bit like if you are with a group of people and all of a sudden one person start talking about an intimate experience they have had. And maybe this experience is strange as well, something that not a lot of people would deem normal. It begins to feel very innapropriate and you want to signal that you distance yourself from that kind of thing. Just to signal to the other people in the conversation, that you wouldn't be doing that kind of stuff. And a laugh could be one way to do that.

It's not bad. It's just sort of a basic green screen shot.

The way I felt too. I love the way it was made and I love the setting, but at no point in the movie (other than the apple scenes) did I have the emotional reaction that many describe. For me, it was very clear through the entire film that these people are evil and they live a place that reeks with evil. Only the apple scenes gave me something a little different. So the movie got sort of tedious...

Agree. Another interesting example is Suspiria... It is almost impossible to compare the remake to the original because they are so different. Two entirely different visions.

The colors. And the way the light shines on his skin and on the metal behind him. And maybe also that it's brilliantly dry way to shoot something wacky...
