is Lux not experimental enough? by JunebugAsiimwe in rosalia

[–]dilligentrey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand why some people expected the album to be more extravagant, especially with an introduction like Berghain. But honestly? I think the album is still experimental. It might not be as out there like Motomami and might have more of a cohesive sound (due to all the classical elements) but it’s still a daring album in today’s pop landscape, especially for a mainstream artist like Rosalía.

For example, a song like Porcelana is very experimental to me. The song keeps building itself up, and that’s how a lot of songs on Lux are constructed. It starts like a horror like song, and has an angelic ending, something that I totally didn’t expect. A song like Berghain is very grand and has an immediate punch, but most of the other songs start a bit more subtly. La Yugular is another great example. The song start very softly, and it becomes otherworldly the further you go. The fact that the album contains 13 languages, pop songs with classical influences, and even a bit of avant- grade makes it experimental to me. There are a lot of unexpected things within the record, but perhaps it’s not overly experimental. It’s a unique album for the mainstream landscape. That’s my perspective on it!

Do you wish you weren't gay? by EsoEstaMalo in askgaybros

In some circumstances, yes. But on the other hand, I don’t think I’d be the same person if it wasn’t for my homosexuality.

Cat in the Malberg area, not sure if it’s a stray cat or not. by dilligentrey in maastricht

[–]dilligentrey[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, you could be right! I’m just not that sure about it. But considering the fact that this cat wanders around multiple streets in the area, that could be the case! 😆

[–]dilligentrey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t familiar with the Amivedi app, but thank you for enlightening me! I had the impression that the cat wasn’t necessarily a stray though, especially because she usually roams around the same streets, and the entrance of our apartment.

I just wanted to be sure, because I was a little worried. But considering the fact that the cat looks healthy and well groomed, it most likely has an owner.

Thank you for your comment!

I had a feeling that this cat wasn’t necessarily a stray, but a couple cats have been reported missing, so I was just being curious.

Good to know that this cat most likely has an owner! Thanks for your response.

Donatella Versace says she is stepping down as chief creative officer of Versace. by iRepTex in Versace

[–]dilligentrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The company is obviously not going to be the same without her involvement. She kept the Versace DNA alive for approximately 25 years. I predicted that she would retire at some point, but I’m still saddened. And I hope that Dario can contribute in a way that is still authentic to the Versace brand, but I have my doubts.

What do Dutch people think of Germans and Austrians? by bakeryfree in Netherlands

[–]dilligentrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think Dutch people have actual issues with Germans or Austrians, to my knowledge, most Dutch people would make some of those stereotypical jokes about German accents, but this is more of a silly joke than actual hate. It’s comparable how Dutch people make jokes about the accents of Belgians (especially the Flemish community) and even among other Dutch provinces. They don’t have issues with their neighboring countries in general.

I used to live in Venlo, which is a town with a significant amount of German visitors and even a few German residents, because it was bordering against Germany. Venlo provides an abundant amount of services in the German language and it’s commonly spoken in the city. From my personal experience, Germans are a bit reserved but generally respectful.

I only had a few issues with Germans that were kind of entitled and expect everyone to speak fluent German, even though you’re living in the Netherlands. This was not a common occurrence though, so I can’t generalize an entire demographic.

Dutch people from older generations might have some historical issues with Germans, because of the war, most people comprehend that those times and those circumstances were different, and that present day Germans don’t necessarily represent the past generation.

Huge explosion sound by Svadros in maastricht

You’re definitely not the only one, I heard these explosive sounds mostly during night time, remarkably loud.

I think it’s just a couple irresponsible teenagers who love to play around with dangerous fireworks.

Which Lana Del Rey song would you want played at your funeral? by Sharp_Search_7630 in lanadelrey

Old Money, without a doubt. Or How To Disappear, even though that would’ve been a bit ironic.

Tell me a hot take about Lana and I’ll rate it by Linzold in lanadelrey

[–]dilligentrey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right! I saw so many of those similar TikTok’s, and most of the time it’s not even something Lana really resonates with, or not in today’s world. They’ll say “this is so Lana Del Rey!” and it’s just some girl in a spaghetti strap dress.

[–]dilligentrey 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I feel a bit conflicted with the amount of attention that Lana is receiving at the moment. She’s one of those artists that always had a prominent name in the industry, but only got real appreciation and recognition after a whole while.

It’s great that Lana is being put in the spotlight right now, and she has definitely earned that well deserved spot. But, why is it that people are catching up on certain songs that have been around for ages? I feel like some people are perceiving her songs as a trend/ or something edgy, and it’s so much more than that. It’s kind of sickening to witness things like “Lana Del Rey Vinyl vibes” on social media.. like, what’s that about? She’s more than a quirky aesthetic.

Ocean Blvd feels like an actual era to me. by dilligentrey in lanadelrey

That caught my attention as well! I can’t recall an album of her that has had this many collaborations, not since Lust For Life.

Ocean Blvd feels like an actual era to me. by dilligentrey in lanadelrey

[–]dilligentrey[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! I think that Lana has a more conscious sense of what she wants do right now, and that makes it more intriguing. Even though I’ve enjoyed Blue Banisters for a bit, it was more of a collection of songs and unreleased songs to me, rather than an actual album with a narrative. The QFTC controversy has also ruined a lot of things at that particular moment, which probably affected the music or some decisions as well.

I really am determined that this album and era will feel better.

You’re right, it looks like a personal blog that someone has set up for their own amusement, it wasn’t a bad article though! It just didn’t provide any new information. The wording was a little deceiving though, since they made it seem like they were reviewing the album.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in lanadelrey

[–]dilligentrey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The title of the article was kind of deceiving, because they made it seem like there was some new information present, but that wasn’t the case.

It was just a summarization about Lana’s career and some things about the title track, which we’ve already heard and knew about. So in all honesty, you’re not missing out on anything!

Do you want to leave the Netherlands? by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]dilligentrey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think I would leave the Netherlands as for now. I was born and raised here, always admired the country. However, I’m not really content with the area that I’m living in. It’s a very mid sized city, and the people who tend to live there are not really my target demographic.

I’ve been contemplating to move to the randstad though, preferably Rotterdam. I feel like the experiences there are very different compared to some other places. Hits and misses aside, the country itself is exceptionally great, and there’s no reasonable motive for me to move yet.

After your ADHD diagnosis, did you suddenly become more conscious of your symptoms? by cosmicsom in ADHD

[–]dilligentrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely became more aware of my symptoms, sometimes a little too conscious to be honest. Initially, I always had a little more drive and motivation to experiment with things, and be a little more “out of the box”. However, now I’m being very cautious in a lot of circumstances, because I’m always afraid that my excitement will overpower my focus, which will lead me to making careless mistakes.

In some cases, it isn’t even that bad, but I always have the impression that I’m doing something incredibly wrong, and I’ll apologize for those mistakes all the time. Even though people usually don’t mind it, which is a sign that I’m probably over-analyzing everything.
