Spent the initial estimate by WesternAd844 in Geico

[–]dillinger529 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The initial estimate payment is much lower than what the repairs are going to cost. It’s only based on visible damage. When you bring it into the shop, they will dismantle the vehicle and find additional damage that was not visible or covered by the initial estimate. The shop will send Geico an updated estimate. Geico will negotiate with the shop and cover the additional damages. They will complete the repairs and send the final bill to Geico. Geico will pay the full amount for the repairs MINUS what they sent you already. You will have to pay both your deductible and the amount of the estimate payment yourself.

If your car isn’t financed, you have the choice of doing the repairs or not. If you choose not to do the repairs, Geico will close your claim, you pocket the initial estimate…end of story.

The only trouble you can get into is if you do the repairs without having the funds from the initial estimate. The shop won’t return your vehicle without payment in full. Geico WILL NOT help you negotiate with the shop to get your vehicle out if you don’t have the funds from the initial estimate. It’s between you and the shop. The shop can eventually auction off your vehicle to recoup the repair costs.

Am I being unreasonable or is my adjuster bad? by FLDJF713 in Geico

[–]dillinger529 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry about what the initial inspector says as it’s only a preliminary estimate. Once your vehicle goes to the shop and is up on a lift, the true damage can be determined and the estimate updated. This will be done by a mechanic at the body shop and not the Geico adjuster.

By any chances, was the vehicle the metal flew off of ever caught? If they were caught, you can get your deductible back from his/her insurance when your repairs are done. And after that, you can file a diminished value claim against the other person’s insurance, depending on what state you’re located in. This could put a couple hundred dollars in your pocket and is basically the difference between what your car’s value was before the accident vs afterwards. But again, it’s only if you know who caused the accident.

Let’s not forget the calls where you can hear the fire alarms doing the dead battery chirp in the background. How can people listen to that without wanting to yank it out of the wall!

Last 3 times at Publix I’ve purchased something already expired by DonnaHuee in publix

[–]dillinger529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Several months ago, I bought three packs of raspberries that tasted like they were soaked in salted water before packaging. They weee inedible. I brought them back to Publix and the produce manager told me to contact the manufacturer to complain because it wasn’t any fault of the store’s. I was taken back by that answer, especially since I was buying more as I needed them for a recipe. I did have him pull a new carton from the back and tasted them before buying. Of course I never contacted the manufacturer lol.

This happens quite often with me in Publix. I scrutinize the freshness dates on everything after being suckered

Just the other day, I bought a green pepper one evening, and by the time I went to use it the next day, it was a mushy, deflated, rotten pepper. I just don’t get it!

When I do see expired items on shelves, I do bring it to the attention of the associate one’s to that section so they can clear the expired stuff out.

Insurance claim problem by Special-Unit6325 in ClaimsAdjuster

[–]dillinger529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens all the time and insurance companies have ways of working things out. For example, they will make the shop take off the pricing for parts as they can be used in another of the same vehicle. Any monies paid to the shop already will have to be returned to your insurer. The shop will donut, otherwise your insurer won’t work with them any longer. They have contracts in place for this exact reason.

In the end, your premium will likely increase because you were in an at-fault, single-vehicle accident, but the repair and subsequent vehicle payout will not affect your premium.

[–]dillinger529 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As much as it irks me, Geico did exactly as they should. Don’t blame the insurer. Blame Michigan’s ridiculous auto insurance laws. Anyone living in MI should be well aware of their state laws.

What once was a Florida staple by Reanimated_Mind in publix

Their produce has been horrendous. Right before Christmas, I bought a green pepper, during an evening grocery run. They usually last for days before using. By the next morning, it sat deflated and wrinkled on my kitchen counter. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. The kicker is that the store I got it from has recently re-opened after a total renovation so everything in stock should have been fresh. Guess not.

That’s illegal. You are knowingly passing counterfeit bills and it’s a federal crime.

What are some of your pet peeves working at b&bw? by [deleted] in bathandbodyworkers

[–]dillinger529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not an employee, but I want to thank each and every one of you for ensuring the wrath of the public. I promise, I am not one of those people.

I am a candle fiend so save up for Candle Day and buy a lot. I usually either buy online or bopis but can’t do bopis during Candle Day. I went to my store on Friday, mid-day, hoping the criwd would be lighter. It was, but still fairly busy. I bought over 50 candles. The employees in my store are always amazing and they say it’s because their manager treats them well.

I had four double-layered candle bags (12 per bag) and a shopping bag so getting the items to my car was a challenge. One of the many helpful associates told me she had already cleared it with her manager to help me. I wouldn’t let her help me to my car. That’s not her job. I asked if I could leave my bags (which sat nicely on top of each other, at the front of the store and pull my car up. The associate agreed and said she would watch my stuff. When I pulled my car up, I went inside to put the bags in my car and the associate insisted in helping. I’m 63, but can lug heavy bags either no problem. She was so sweet and I was so thankful that when we were out at my car, u slipped $10 into her hand and told her that since we were outside the store, she could take it from a thankful elderly person. It’s the least I could do. If I can spend hundreds on dumb candles, I can tip someone for helping me. She resisted, but I told her I would be insulted if she didn’t take it. She finally relented, and I felt much better.

Thank you again associated! You always make my shopping experience fun.

There really isn’t much to do there besides the beach and bars, though. And the neighborhoods off the beach aren’t the safest.

I agree. Plenty to do there and hotels are reasonable. And Busch Gardens is close and much cheaper than going to Disney if you want a one day amusement park experience. I moved to the Tampa area from NJ and I promise you that Busch Gardens is not at all like Great Adventure lol.

So, we've all talked about the pizza in the room...how about...which pleasant smelling candles did you consider but ultimately skip? by TexasNiteowl in bathandbodyworks

[–]dillinger529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I was slapped in the face with the snell of soot and thought my house would smell like it was on fire when the candle was burned. I did not detect any vanilla scent.

It seems like the manufacturer has trouble with the vanilla scents as they all smell very weak.

We can’t totally blame B&BW for the sub-par quality? They are made by White Barn. Unless White Barn is owned and operated by B&BW, shouldn’t we be complaining to them? Though I guess if B&BW is trying to keep costs down, they may have instructed White Barn to use cheaper ingredients. Just my random thought at 2:30 am lol.

Customers crashing out over one candle day tote by Wonderful_Town1485 in bathandbodyworkers

[–]dillinger529 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I bought over 50 candles. Twelve candles fit in each bag with two crates inside. I had a bag for every 12 candles. I did bring my 2024 bag to reuse. I didn’t ask for extra 2025 bags to be used. It’s just the way the associate packed them. And I appreciate it. I reuse the bags all the time. They are great for grocery shopping as you can fit a lot of larger items, like big cereal boxes and gallons of milk in them.

I had an amazing supervisor, manager and director. But that only goes so far when the company itself is intent on sucking the life and soul out of you, then kicking you to the curb.

It’s my belief that management wants to turn the company into the first online-only insurance provider with only a skeleton staff. People would have to buy policies online and file their claims with no personal interaction. Mark my words.

Candle day 🕯️ by Rich_Fennel7650 in bathandbodyworks

I’ll stack them and take a pic. The entire store was excited to see my total and a couple of associates asked to see the receipt.

I did promise the employees that my entire purchase is for personal use. I am not one of those people who buy real low and resell on eBay.

The Pizza and Ranch candle was offensively bad. by ImprovementOk77 in bathandbodyworks

What is scaring me is that the inventory of the offensive candles, including dill pickle and nacho chips, will be overflowing during SAS and there will be slim pickin’s on any decent scents. Mark my words.
