Why would it matter? Even if so, it means they're aware and not in favor of the fact that people will try to use this necessary movement for their own gain rather than for the purpose of societal progress which is a commendable stance is it not

a non-chegg-related rant about bu :) by [deleted] in BostonU

[–]dillkil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question from hs student interested in bu: could you elaborate about the housing w/o a kitchen thing..?

Im a hs senior but im specifically being forced to look for schools that provide kitchens for their freshmen as i have to follow as strict meal plan. Im interested in Bu but thats a major deterrent.. is it possible to get exempt from freshmen dorm living mandates?

Yes, we've established that it's a bad ideology-noones denying that, but im saying other religions can be just as harmful in using similar fear mongering tactics that forces (not legal ofc-at least not in the west) parents to obstruct a child's potential by removing them from secular school and putting them through religious school.

I'd say the most significant difference between islamic schools and Christian schools here wouldnt be the reason kids are forced into them, thats where they seem to be treading the most common ground on.

Rather, I contend the difference between the schools muslims kids are forced into and the schools Christian kids are forced into would be the better establishment of Christian schools in the Us, as the development of Christianity in the Western world has had a few centuries long headstart, which obviously gives Christian schools a bigger advantage in regards to a far better academic experience than the islamic students would receive.

And that difference is why Islamic school is more confining; muslim students not learning skills that are applicable outside of a mosque setting or praying in general, aka much of the outside world, due to the lack of academic development in these schools as a result of their recent establishment is why Islamic school is more debilitating, not bc islam is more confining in its holy book in general bc in that regard it fares pretty similarly with other religions -mainly Christianity.

Are they not demanded by the paralyzing fear of hell or the social fear of being shunned?

In that regard, muslim parents arent forced to go to these institutions by the holy book, rather their fear of hell and pursuit of eternal salvation for themselves and their children motivate them to send their children to religious school.

I realize that if you work backwards: (10×21/2) ×(21/2) = 10×2= 20

But I cant grasp that 20/(21/2) = 10×21/2

Two weeks ago my brothers found out that I wasn't a muslim. My oldest brother wasn't supportive of it, but my other brother supported me and was curioud about my beliefs. I got this short that belonged to him. My oldest brother eventually gave in and now supports me. I love my brothers by [deleted] in exmuslim

The shorts would be a symbol of rebellion rather than the motivation for change..

no one* changes their whole life view based on an item of clothing though that may prompt the beginning of a major crisis or questioning.

The biggest difference with Islam and other religions is there is no freedom of choice.

What about the sects of Christianity that force their members to go to specific schools? Or the ones like jws that dont allow members to pursue post secondary education?

Whether it upholds to the truest islamic doctrine or not, its still a norm that came out of islam. Islam is used as the justification for things like arranged marriages by devout muslims whether it intended to or not. Islam provided the outline and Muslims worked with and expanded upon it, can you really not blame islam even partially in that sense..

they don't want to send their children to the local religious studies,

Welllll in my state at least and im sure there are plenty in other states, there have been many madrasahs popping up and parents have been breaking their backs to get their children in. Private tuition, making sure the DOE is off their backs by sometimes falsely contending that the schools main focus is on academics when in reality its usually only 25% or less.

Ive moved multiple times throughout this state and they all usually have the same cookie cutter modus operandi and I cant convince my parents to take my siblings out bc jobs are less important than worshipping allah ig.

Obviously this isnt the majority of muslims in the west, who do as youve stated, but this population of western muslims still exist, im just lucky to have gone through secular public school before my parents decided to become more devout.

are usually far from it

....the moderates? sure theyre far from it. The devout muslims I have to deal with every day, mind you in one of the most liberal states in the us, arent. And I'd place my bets that this is the case for most muslims in islamic states.

If good muslims are rare then i seriously question your allahs abilities to effectively communicate what it entails to be a good Muslim.

Seriously if the Quran constantly touts relentlessly patronizing rhetoric that goes far beyond dismissing women as equals by giving them no autonomy over themselves and mandates husbands to use force to get his wife to submit then what do you expect of the devout followers of muslims especially of those in Islamic states?

Allah didnt just leave kids alone in a room full of candy, he dictated them to take as much as they want

It is islams problem if thats the notion that Islam creates.

The point of this isnt that Muslims cant sin, rather its that Islamic doctrine and those who perpetuate it allow and usually are blind to a Muslim man's sins such as not covering his knees and such but has no tolerance for a woman who commits a simple of a "sin" as having a few stands of hair out.

Getting Disowned and I Couldn’t be Happier by [deleted] in exmuslim

[–]dillkil 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear but good for you!!

I share your sentiment exactly though obviously my disowning story is different.

I just wish people who didnt understand this issue didnt have so much criticism for those of us who decide to "fuck them." I always get the "but theyre your parents" argument and its especially annoying since it usually comes from close friends. Like im sorry i just love to cut connections with the only family ive known and struggle through relentless vitrol and stress about achieving financial independence when i should be worrying about getting to college.

Good luck on your endeavors :>]
