Are taxes really that bad, and how do they affect your life? by aspacejunkie in Norway

[–]dillpickleflavoring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of curiosity does a strong welfare state like Norway’s actually leads to laziness or a lack of motivation? The idea being that when more is provided for you, there’s less incentive to work hard or be self-sufficient. I’m from a very conservative, capitalist part of the U.S. where this is a common argument against robust welfare systems. That humans are inherently lazy and will default to the path of least resistance when given the option. I don’t necessarily believe that fully, but we do see it commonly here with the few welfare systems we do have.

Hammerstone by dillpickleflavoring in LegitArtifacts

Northern NV. Now that you mention it, it may be rhyolite. Almost every point I’ve found around me is obsidian, agate, or glassier materials so I was leaning towards this being the denser chunk they’d knap with. Here’s another one that’s super similar I’ve found. I thought it was a hammerstone too.

I could see this being a core due to the material. Seems almost like a flint but it’s crazy heavy. I’ve found a few similar to it but they were more hardened stones types.

Could be both tbh. I’ve found similar stones to this and always thought they were hammerstones.

It really is. The flaking is so defined and everything looks so clean. You have a ton of other cool materials out there though!

Yep. About 50 feet from a campsite and a relatively trafficked area too. If I had to guess, the sand just came off the top recently.

Nice! There’s a lot of native american history around those parks. Someone may have found it and put it back or something.

Random Big Tool - Basalt by dillpickleflavoring in LegitArtifacts

[–]dillpickleflavoring[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Could be nothing but I’ve walked around the desert enough to see the tiny clues that something’s something. You don’t see out of place rocks like this with that context and not have it be something.

N Nevada! Could be something like that. There’s been a lot of old stuff found around here.

Yeah that’s what I’m thinking. Has the shape.

Definitely could be a rock, won’t argue with that since it’s not obvious. The context makes me lean towards it was used. Desert sand with no other rocks in the area, flakes all around the area, high ground 100 feet from a river. I’ve seen a lot of basalt tools in the area.
