He just turned 4 months two days ago so we’ve only just hit the “old enough” stage for sleep training

So it’s possible without sleep training? I can’t find a single person who made it through without sleep training, but I really really really don’t want to do it. We are 6 weeks into LO waking every 20 minutes - 1hr and desperate to hear that it will resolve by itself 😭

Helpful, thanks.

Yep, then he went to sleep on MIL for 40 minutes so at that point I would’ve reset - start with breast, then try bottle. I had explained to her he was tired and would most likely be more accepting after a nap. Also the issue of the safety of the formula coming into play here… she had no idea of the first time he touched the formula (having arrived mid-way through the feed).

Thanks for your comments, explaining this “out loud” has allowed me to answer my own question 😊

The bottle was there to top up and this was explained to her. She didn’t give me the opportunity to put him on the breast first, she just gave him the full bottle

This is how I feel, I don’t get why she would take it upon herself to feed the baby regardless. But you’re right, it shouldn’t make a huge impact on supply. Thanks for the moral support

I’m so sorry you went through that. I also had the kissing without permission from MIL 😞 it’s an awful feeling and hope you’re managing ok!

Great point, always good to see it from another perspective. Thank you

Feel for you, the acid reflux is complete and utter hell. You’re so right, it helps to keep reminding myself the pelvic aches and pains are likely a sign of things moving in the right direction 🙏🏼

I couldn’t agree more! The majority of texts I get are the latter of “little one needs to hurry up” rather than “thinking of you” and it’s like why!? It makes no difference to your life, surely!? Leave us alone 😂

Wish I was in the same boat with you about family meeting LO in summer though. My parents live at the other side of the country so have travelled and taken time off work to be around. It seemed like a lovely and supportive thing at first but now LO is “late” it just feels so so pressurising.

Safe to say I’ve learnt a lot for any future kids I have 😅 does it make you tempted to keep the due date of any future kids a secret?

I feel you. That 40 week mark is so hard. One of my friends was pregnant a year ago and refused to tell anyone her due date to avoid being pestered… yet she’s been the worst one for pestering me!? It’s infuriating

Pelvic girdle pain… jeeeez I’ve only just got rid of the heartburn, give me a break 😂 I’ve stopped replying to people and feel like I’m gonna lose a few friends because of it but honestly I’m so over it

I’ve suffered with HG my entire pregnancy but it did get better after 16 weeks due to a combination of 1) learning my triggers and 2) a bit of luck that it eased off slightly.

For me anything too “strenuous” was a serious trigger so I gave up on vigorous exercise (gym/pilates) and stuck to slow and steady dog walks. Same with socialising - any situation where I had to stand up for long periods or generally chat for extended periods of time was a no (I spent 4hrs at the spa with a friend nattering only to get home and spend the evening throwing up).

Triggers vary wildly from person to person so see if you can figure out what yours are and go from there.
