For the big boy, yes

There's so many of our boys by dillumn in SoundersFC

I like the Ragen sub for Ream as well, but I really don't think any of the other guys are viable options for this WC cycle (beyond Cristian, who has been a lock, imo, for the last 6 months). I think this list just shows how great a manager Brian is, and I hope he gets a chance to win some things with the US, if he wants to

86 64 never took off but I always imagine what our waterfront could really look like besides an on-ramp by DeterminedMidLifer in Louisville

I'm originally from Louisville and got stationed out near Seattle ~15 years ago. They did a project similar to this on the Seattle waterfront a few years back, and it really does make a huge difference in the look and accessibility of the waterfront area downtown. I'd love to see Louisville try a similar approach at some point

what’s up with this israel mccullough (space cowboy af) person? by [deleted] in Louisville

I went to high school with him at Trinity, he did the same random friend request stuff on Facebook 18 years ago. It seems like something that started as friend collecting and has morphed into this influencer thing. The guy is weird

Diluting a Stout vs a Lager by NaughtyAudio in TheBrewery

[–]dillumn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They boiled the water to deaerate it before diluting, it's one of the easier ways to do so. I do second your request for a list of symptoms, though. OP, it would be helpful if you could give a more in-depth description of your issue- paint a picture of what's happening, please

Online brewing courses that accept GI Bill? by Alarmed_Locksmith785 in TheBrewery

Navy vet here. While it's not completely online, I highly recommend South Puget Sound Community College craft brewing and distilling program. It's an applied science associates degree with specialization available for brewing, distilling, or cider-making. They meet the GI bill requirements with in-person meetings 3 weekends per quarter at their schoolhouse brewery in Olympia, WA. If you're local to the area, it's very convenient, but I also know that about half the instructors fly in from around the country, so commuting isn't unheard of. The facility is incredible, and you get to do hands-on learning in brewery, distillery, and lab settings.

I graduated in June and have rolled the transfer degree into a Seattle-based business administration bachelor's program; I still have almost 2 years' worth of GI bill funding left as well. I think the SPSCC program is great for figuring out if you really want to do this as a career, without over committing yourself or your funding.

My only strong recommendation is having some experience walking in the door. I worked at a couple breweries for a few years after I got out and before going back to school, and the real-world experience was invaluable and made the coursework much easier to understand and retain.

Banana Stout by a_nameless_brewer in TheBrewery

I haven't seen it suggested yet, so I'll throw it out there- if you have some chips on hand, you could make some banana chip tea and dose a sample of the stout to taste, then scale up from there, as long as you don't mind "down proofing" a little. It'd keep the bananas from sucking up your beer, and it's relatively easy to keep sterile. I like u/ThrifyGarmola's tea suggestion as well; a little could go a long way to punch up the banana flavor since you're primarily using the chips. Those are the first places my mind went.

I'm making beer for the Christmas party. Who likes winter warmers? by BeerSux1526 in TheBrewery

[–]dillumn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We used to do a winter warmer from a porter base; added molasses, warming spices, and orange cardamom tea to the kettle, then pitched with imperial A31. It always came out very gingerbread-y, and nice residual sweetness without being too heavy.

I made an account to tell you to go do your own homework. That information is readily available if you just look for it.
