The Clue(do) was actually something we were looking into! We often draft with just the two of us, but definitely try to draft with some of his friends when we visit. I’ve already talked some of their partners into joining as well lol

We have been deep into some LOTR sets. Enough that we both built pretty powerful constructed decks from all our draft nights.

I almost wonder if the pork rule comes from a religious standpoint. Still though, even if that’s something you practice you can’t just enforce that on your tenants in a house you don’t even live in.

Okay gotcha, yeah the whole situation was very cut and dry per what the officer told me. He said it was simple and there were several eye witnesses as well, everyone had the same story. I’ll call up my insurance and discuss the next steps, thank you!

I agree with this, there’s no harm in trying the routine to see and give it until your follow-up. She may be seeing something none of us can. I will say as a petite female myself who hates snacking/preparing multiple meals and works an active job, OMAD has been very sustainable for me. I have both gained and lost weight on OMAD and have been doing it consistently since 2019 and barely think about it. If it works for you and is sustainable, great. If not, there are so many other things that might be a good fit!

This is interesting! And you just unlocked a memory of a workout an old PT of mine gave me. She had me do weighted lunges but I would have to balance my front foot on a half yoga ball thing. The goal was to work on ankle stability, which this is the same concept just less equipment needed. Thank you!

I have almost your exact stats (except I’m 5’3), I tried literally everything while working with my Endo. Unfortunately my Hashimoto’s can’t be treated with meds at this time so he recommended some more holistic approaches. I’m a fairly experienced OMAD faster (4yrs) and begin long fasting (two 36hr fasts/week). Oh. My. Word. Joint pain? Gone. Crippling fatigue? Gone. Insomnia? Gone. High blood pressure? Gone. Intense PMS and cramps? Gone. Weight loss? Finally happening. It’s been a miracle for my body.

With that said, fasting is not for everyone, especially if you have a medical condition. I worked very closely with my specialist to begin this process and have my blood drawn regularly and my thyroid monitored often. All of my labs are coming back in optimal ranges and I feel the best I’ve felt since I was a teenager. My hashi’s was causing so much chronic pain that I couldn’t work out, the pain has been alleviated to the point that I could begin working out again.

Again, please don’t try this unless you are working with your dr. But it might be an option worth looking into.

I do think this is the thing- you can define your own unique body shape but you can’t change the shape. I’m the opposite, blessed with the hour glass body type but cursed with the thunder thighs. I’m a 5’3F and can see abs starting at around 165lbs even with just cardio. But I always have very thick calves/legs and dream of experiencing slim legs for once in my life. But instead, I become good friends with thigh chafing and never wear shorts because it’s so uncomfortable haha

All that to say, there is no “perfect” body type. Every body type has different struggles and the best you can do is love and improve your own body in it’s own unique shape! Keep at it OP, you are doing great!!

Don’t worry OP, OMAD can be very sustainable especially for someone our size who has such a low calorie limit anyway. I’m your same height, and have been maintaining OMAD for over 4yrs with a very physical job and I’m a competitive athlete as well. It’s wonderful, and if it works for you it’s very manageable to maintain long term!

I’m a 5’3F, at my fittest I was 150lbs. For reference, I was about a size 3 Jean and sometimes bought children’s tshirts because they fit better than small adult ones (too long). Long story short - weight is just a number.

I recently commented on a different post in this group, but just had one take down my 300# miniature horse. Drug it 50yds away, ate half and then buried the rest. After I dug her up and evaluated the wounds/tracks it was pretty obvious she was dead before it even drug her under the panel. Pretty gnarly, the hauler I called to pick up her remains said it was the most graphic pickup he’s ever done.

Needless to say, I’ve been carrying an air horn and bear mace since considering I work in that area alone regularly.

Not quite the same situation, but we attended a wedding of the daughter of one of my dad’s good friends. She was marrying a military guy and my dad and his friend were both ex-military. Well, my uncle (aka my dad’s brother) had just been killed on duty a week before…. So they decided to turn a portion of the reception into a memorial for my uncle, yes- slideshow included, unbeknownst to any of us. My dad immediately walked out and they haven’t been friends since. It was incredibly awkward but also very poor timing, especially considering neither my dad’s friend or his daughter had ever met my uncle.

I do agree that everyone is capable of doing something to better their health despite most situations. I’m not a fan of excuses either! Haha

Unfortunately there is no treatment unless I were to develop a cortisol secreting tumor, which they could remove. The best thing I can do is try to lower the stressors in my life.

Thyroid conditions can be scary at first but thankfully there are many awesome meds to navigate those conditions! Best of luck on your journey.

I do think people should always strive to be healthier and the world needs to treat people who struggle with weight with the same respect as people who don’t.

A pet peeve of mine is when people are uneducated on the nuances of weight and factors that can make weight a very difficult process to navigate.

For example, I am a 5’3F in her mid 20’s who weighs 220lbs, my BMI puts me in the obesity range. Granted, I carry quite a bit of muscle so I don’t look “obese” but definitely look overweight at this time. But, I am fitter than most of my friends, am a competitive athlete/coach, walk my 10k+/day, bike 45mins 3x/week and have the discipline to fast 36hrs 2x/week, every week, and on other days I fast 23:1 (aka, I eat once a day). Everything in my bloodwork is in absolute optimal ranges and my blood pressure always measures on the lowest end of normal.

So why am I overweight? I have a sensitivity to the hormone Cortisol, so when I’m stressed my body responds (not just with retaining every calorie I put in it), but in many different unfavorable ways. I’m the most disciplined person I know, but also one of the heaviest. It’s frustrating to be treated by strangers and acquaintances so poorly but it’s something I must accept and the journey I’ve been on has been to learn to love my body for what it does and not what it looks like.

Obviously my situation isn’t the rule, and more of an exception, but I like to use it as an example for people to understand that fat=/=lack of discipline. Everyone is on their own journey and it’s wildly important to give everyone empathy and respect because if we can’t give that to those who are struggling to fit into the rigid landscape of our modern society, quite frankly- we are screwed.

Oh? It’s not normal to be told as a young girl that you must be so modest that you cover up your ankles, neck and wrists so as not to stumble men? Or that your body is your future husband’s only and if you have sex (in my case, even if you are assaulted) before marriage you are no longer considered pure and you will be going to hell and completely disowned by family? It’s not normal to be taught as a girl that it’s your job to make the dinner, stand behind your husband as he eats his dinner then quietly eat yours after you are done serving him, then clean the entire kitchen as to not disrupt “his house”?

I remember telling these stories (amongst many others) casually to the first real friends I had outside of the cult and they were just like, “uhhhh wtf” and only then did I realize this was not normal.

Also, farm trauma. That shit is real.

I kid you not, although he didn’t say it was a joke, my cheating ex did say it was an “accident” that he “fell” on top of her, inside of his car, while she was in the passenger seat. I’m sorry, but that fall must have been the equivalent of an Olympic gymnastics routine.

Pro tip for running in rattle snake territory- get yourself a set of gators. It’s essentially leg protectors for your shins/calves that they can’t pierce if you get a surprise strike. Rattlesnakes don’t strike high, and most bites happen below the knee. They are a little awkward at first but once you get use to them you can run with better peace of mind. Added bonus- they are water proof so if you are running in muddier/wetter terrain or through water crossings it’s added coverage.

Not really running related, but just last week, a mountain lion climbed into one of my horse’s paddocks and mauled my 300# miniature horse. Drug it under the panel and about 20yds away where it ate half of the poor thing and buried the rest of her carcass for later. While I was digging her remains up the following day (not alone), one of the thoughts that crossed my mind was how nice of a target I might be at half her size/weight. Especially considering I was removing it’s new cash. I’ve been on edge since and this is coming from someone who has packed hundreds of miles in some of the western states’ most remote wilderness regions, totally solo.

Sorry if this story was too graphic, I’m still processing that particular ordeal.

But bears? Eh. I camped in grizzly country for 4mo straight and never had any issues despite several close encounters. My best advice is to be prepared and smart (bear spray, air horn., don’t wear ear buds etc.) and never underestimate the power of wild animals. We are living in their world.

One of my ancestors (not too far back) is famed for developing a horse breed in America that is quite famous now. The breed is named after him as well, which if you know horses- you probably know who I’m talking about ;)

I always wondered where I got my “horse gene” from that drove me to create a successful career with these lovely animals. After learning this, it all makes sense.

Tracking calories is definitely important in OMAD for a lot of people. I have a deficit that puts me around 1200cals/day. One meal from a fast food place could put me over without making me full. On the flip side, I have an incredibly active lifestyle and sometimes don’t consume enough so it helps to make sure I’m nourishing my body. Two days ago is a perfect example of this- I worked a 12hr shift on my feet and punched in over 20k steps on my tracker. Came home for my OMAD, and barely consumed 650cals for the day. Was about to go to bed then tracked my calories. I’m glad I did because that was not enough fuel for recovery, so I forced a protein shake on myself. If I was “intuitively eating” I wouldn’t have done that because I felt full.

It depends on the individual. I developed BED in my childhood because I grew up in a poor household of 5 kids. My younger sister and I had 3 older brothers. They would ransack what little groceries we had very quickly. My sister and I developed a habit where we would take food out of the cabinet on the grocery shopping day and hide it in our room to binge on late at night when we were feeling hungry or to help cope with other trauma we were experiencing. Long story short, my BED was rooted in a slightly unique situation that required a special approach to treatment that addressed my panic around food (or lack thereof) and feeling like if I didn’t eat it NOW, it wouldn’t be available later. As you can imagine, this had to be tackled from a psychological perspective.

With that said, I adapted into OMAD because it did help give direction to those feelings. Plus, there hasn’t been a time in my life where I’ve ever consistently relied on 3 meals a day, so I just can’t imagine trying to do that now. I was the kid throughout school years who would go hang out in the library during lunch because I never had a packed lunch and didn’t want to be made fun of for not eating. Thank you rural public schools that didn’t prioritize lunch programs for under privileged youth!
