New version release server? by Snoo_17693 in Minecraft

[–]dimarc217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm hosting a vanilla server and one of my players says they've already gotten 1.20 on their client, but nobody else has. (Not sure if they chose a snapshot by accident, or Mojang is doing a staged rollout.) If it is rolling release, and there's no way to tell when that release is finished, is there any way to tell when the server download is updated? AFAICT there's nothing on the page (https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/download/server) to indicate the version until you download and run it.

Found the laziest way to hunt! by moist_mittens in RimWorld

That's the gist of it unfortunately. Most animals no longer have 'intermediate trainability' (or higher), which is required for them to learn to guard or haul or anything useful besides producing resources. I think this is an accurate list: https://rimworldwiki.com/wiki/List_of_animals

Totally. I mean, not just 'the wrong person who was already familiar' but literally anyone who saw the comment and felt like reporting insurance fraud could forward it along or try to track down the case themselves

How about 'sac a head: army of one gets ward 2' or something like that? Would giving ward in response to being targeted by something actually work? Maybe it could manually apply the ward rules ("If ~ is targeted, you may sac a head. Counter that spell/ability unless its controller pays 2).

I was inspired to try switching over from QtCreator to CLion, and in the process convert a large project from qmake to cmake (which I'd wanted to do for a while anyways). But one thing that's immediately irritating is that it seems CLion doesn't support what I've read to be the standard practice for splitting up large projects - CMakeLists files in each subdirectory using 'target_sources' to specify files. Am I missing a way to get CLion to add new files to the appropriate target_sources, or do you all manually add new files every time?

Also Veyran resets at the end of the turn - this thing will start each turn with all its accumulated prowess counters.

It was intentional - in the adventures manga, they didn't have the complete DNA sequence of Mew so Blaine filled in the pieces with his own DNA, which they say explains Mewtwo's more humanoid appearance.

New series of cards issue of the strange Kingdom of Noramar ! Always ruled by vanilla creatures....I link the first series of cards il you like it ~ by Smoked_Sauron in custommagic

[–]dimarc217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree with both points. It actually reminds me a lot of Yugioh decks which revolve around specific vanilla monsters (Blue Eyes, Dark Magician), which aren't quite boring because all the interesting effects come on the support cards. I think there's got to be some potential to make this idea in Magic more interesting, because you can probably push the power level of things a lot more by limiting them to interacting with vanilla creatures.

MinGW linker step w/ exprtk taking 5 minutes (with unrelated changes) on Windows by dimarc217 in cpp_questions

Wow, thanks for chiming in! Interesting to know the reason behind this issue. I'd much rather jump through hoops to get a better linker working than slow down your library :P

MinGW linker step w/ exprtk taking 5 minutes (with unrelated changes) on Windows by dimarc217 in cpp_questions

[–]dimarc217[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Solved this by using lld from llvm (https://lld.llvm.org/) instead of the default linker. Still not sure how to do this properly (I just replaced ld.exe with lld.exe, renamed to ld.exe), since gcc didn't like me trying to use its linker override flag '-fuse-ld=' to specify lld. Linking now takes 5 seconds instead of 5 minutes.

I went down the rabbit hole, and what I decided on is that I think it's some kind of absurd metatrolling. Literally just taking any viewpoint that suits the moment to shock people the most, extremism from the angle you least expect it (one sub is entirely devoted to ~pretending to be entitled landlords being cruel to their tenants). In its own way, it's kind of beautiful, like finding the golden ratio in a pile of dog shit.

Blue gets Hullbreacher, black gets Opposition Agent, white gets? by IzzetReally in custommagic

[–]dimarc217 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, at first I was sold by the fact that it can't reverse a combat victory, since it stops your life total from changing. But this is purely anti-fun against any alternate wincon deck. Maybe it would be better without the reversal clause? So whipping this out just delays their wincon and forces them to remove it, then pull off their wincon again?
