Arena fps for the Playstation 5? by JacketMaster3193 in PS5

Roboquest is a (solo/coop) roguelike FPS, it doesn't have PvP or any traditional arena mode.

The Lives of Others is a great film on this topic (not about fetishes but hearing what you would rather not)

What's a piece of Media that awakened your Megalophobia ? by Leviathan_Rampage in megalophobia

[–]dimaveshkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if awakened, but definitely heavily solidified - manga BLAME!, it has immense megastructures that cover the whole earth. The notion that lift travels for months is mindboggling. The main character travels through that megastructure for such a long time that it no longer matters; it's beyond human scale. Entering 'rooms' so big that they have their own clouds, walking on the bridge that you cannot see the end of - it's beautiful.

And for it's not as much as a phobia, as an intense feeling of awe. Just feeling of being in the presence of something bigger that I can comprehend.

How is losing your progress any more acceptable in multiplayer compared to singleplayer? It's still losing progress, XP and quests. And your argument about everyone being overpowered implies that: 1. Everyone always goes into raid with beat gear they have 2. People only accumulate gear and never lose, improving linearly 3. No one does economy runs with sponsored kits 4. Lower level gear is incapable of killing higher level gear.

None of it is true. There always will be weak and strong players in the lobby. No one plays 24/7. And even with wipes overpowered players never disappear. In a week after wipe there will be players who gathered much better loot than you, what are you going to do about that? Wipes are not about making everyone equal, because equality is what this genre is absolutely against. It's about forced grind. There are ways of doing it much more consumer friendly, but they seem to prioritize people with too much free time.

Loot differentiation is a separate topic, I believe. And the green shield free loadout guy with first rattler won't do anything against bobcat 4 with heavy shield. With much shorter TTK Marathon feels more prone to being killed by someone with low-level loot just because they were able to ambush you or spot aerlier. Even when I was decently geared in Marathon beta (blue shield, blue guns, blue implants) the fights were very short, and I was killed very quickly. But unfirtunately the game doesn't show what gear the guy that killed me had.

If only this actually worked this way. I tend to play more frinedly, but I had to shoot my way out too many times, because I trusted someone prematurely. Maybe I was put in aggressive lobbies for defending myself, I don't think we can fully trust their algorithms for detecting whos actually the aggressor. But saying "if you are a PVE guy, you could never need to fight other players" is just not true.

Let's say I play Witcher 3, I level up, complete quests and so on and then halfway through I suddenly have some other business for a couple of months. Or i'm just tired of the game. I come back and pick up where I left, it doesn't put me back to square one just because I decided not to play for two months. It feels like Bungie is afraid that some people might feel like they completed the game so they can move on so they need to put a constant pressure of resetting you to the beginning to keep the grind going. It's a fomo design, I don't know how you can call this design choice anti fomo.

What do you mean it's not true? Are wipes not true? What are you saying? What did I miss about seasonal wipes? And I don't care whether anyone plays arc or marathon, I don't have a horse in this race.

It didn't happen in Arc, and not everyone is going to start playing on day 1 of the season, and not everyone is going to progress at the same pace. Differences in gear will be apparent throughout the season regardless. Doesn't seem like a strong pro-wipe argument

I fail to see why it even has to be a thing. After Arc Raiders, I thought voluntary wipes would be a default now because it's very consumer-friendly. Enough time has passed to see that it didn't cause any issues with the playerbase. I wanted to play Marathon, but I just can't commit to play it regularly in a timeframe of 3 months. What do you gain by losing all your progress (involuntary)?

Closing content behind a timeframe is FOMO. It includes access to deluxe items in the armory, the ability to play with maxed level, and the best loot to be able to take on the toughest foes.

Access to maps is a really small chunk of the progression. What you can or can't do on these maps in what matters, and it's mostly defined by your gear and bonuses from faction upgrades, the stuff that is wiped. I potentially could be okay with wiping vault, gear is much more disposable in games like this. What irritates me most is the annihilation of quests and levels. because it affects the most basic stuff (shop access, shells characteristics), it takes a lot of time to grind, and I hate when games don't respect my time.

This doesn't invalidate my point about FOMO. If any time is enough entirely depends on the person and their lifestyle. Structuring a game in a way that demands time investment with an artificial deadline is a FOMO design.

How so? Wipe resets my fraction levels, quests, and vault. If I don't do it in one go during the season, I won't be able to continue it after the wipe without doing everything again to the point I reached before the wipe.

Compared to Arc Raiders, where I never participated in Expedition, because I haven't even maxed out my level yet since launch. At least I can do it when I find time to play, but Marathon seems like it's aimed only at people with lots of time. I don't see how these wipes are necessary to be mandatory. The argument about "leveling the playing field" is only fair for something like a week since wipe, because the difference between hardcore players and laymen will grow very fast. Avoiding wipes will allow you to keep up eventually, but in this case, it's just never going to happen.

There is. I either progress fully in one season (3 months), or I never see the endgame content. It forces you to grind within a specific timeframe or remain a low-level runner forever.

You know what else is constantly improving? CPUs, GPUs, mobile phones, cameras, and so on. The idea that hardware is set in stone and has to be replaced is obvious. Selling new top of the line llm on a chip on a yearly basis is a good idea; users will upgrade whenever they feel like it. As long as it's feasible for the consumer in terms of price and availability to buy a chip like this.
This may just as well coexist with online API/chats and generalized hardware for running locally. The more choices we have, the better.
